are you one of those "G isnt a fast car, get a REAL RACE CAR" teenage boy? i think that's considered trolling...i.e., many many many ppl on this board do performance mods, so do yourself a favor and stop being so bias about a performance car, please.

I never insinuated your statement "G isnt a fast car, get a REAL RACE CAR." I was merely stating that I dont think this car is "that" quick. And to your remark, a teenage boy? hardly.

Bias? I love my G35 coupe, but I defitnely dont beat on it let alone race it[against a supra? ]

isn't it apparent to you that ppl race THEIR g35 and 350z's. and for you to come bring up "I dont know why people race there G's, IMHO its not that quick" makes no sense. if you have a s2k, and dont understand why ppl race their G's, then dont read ANY race threads. got it mommy?

if you want to compete it will be difficult. you could spend $10k and probably get about 400whp... if you want more power than that you'll need to spend a lot more money, maybe double that, to get to 500whp?

So a slightly modded type S can run 14 flat and trap 100 mph Don't they run very high 14's-low 15's? They must respond very well to mods to be slightly modded and still run 14 flat.

The G35 isn't that fast? Any car that is faster than 75% of the cars on the road is fast period. There are different degrees of fast, but I guess you're not considering that.

I personally wouldn't mess with a Supra Turbo. I tend to stick to cars that are more or less in my range. Yesterday, I beat a E36 M3 from 0 to 80. Clean and fair race and the guy actually gave me a thumbs up afterwards. He told me it was a 98.

What type S do you have? Tried to find out what car you were talking about but I can't figure it out.

I figured a RSX Type S, but it doesn't matter if it's a CL-S or TL-S or RSX. Either car in "slightly modded" form will not pull on a G35 driven by an experience driver.

LOL, you have a S2000 and you consider the G35 not that quick? You of all people should know that without a 8k rpm clutch drop, a G35 will smoke you really bad. And for the record, a S2000 isn't that much quicker (if any) than a G35. Yes, the G35 will feel like a boat when compared to the S2000, but straight line racing is very close and I'm speaking from experience. Hell, I thought you had a highly modded STi or something.

Actually, it probably wasn't a blow off valve. The valve will release the pressure when he gets off the throttle. Not before he gets on it. It is probably just a backfire.

It was a backfire - modded Supras with cranked up boost tend to backfire a lot, mostly from unburned excess fuel lighting off in the hot exhaust. They make the fuel mixtures so rich to avoid detonation under high boost that a bunch of excess fuel goes down the exhaust when they let off the gas such as between shifts or downshifting. At night, sometimes you'll see a large fireball from those backfires coming out of the muffler, if they're not running cats (most modded Supras don't).

Anyway, if you really have the speed bug, I wouldn't bother modding a G35 to get it to Supra Turbo levels of performance. You will end up spending mind blowing amounts of money to pull it off right. The G35's engine and drivetrain just aren't good platforms to make big power from, without having to upgrade EVERYTHING. Unless you have the goal of having the fastest G35 out there to be rare, or want the challenge of the project, with cost no object, I would just go out an buy a used Supra Turbo or Z06, and be done with it. It'll be a lot cheaper and easier than modding a G35.

But even if you end up with a 1,000hp car, there will always be someone faster, and if that fact bothers you, then you either need to become a top fuel dragster driver, or see a shrink.

He better not be talking about a RSX TypeS unless he has some FI on it, cause my ex drives one and that thing is slow as hell compared to the G.

I will have to agree with Hyun that the G35 is not THAT fast, or at least does not feel it. Or maybe a better way to put it, is not as fast as it should be.

Please correct me if i am wrong, but what i have been able to gather, a bone stock 6MT G Coupe will run about 14.5 second 1/4 mile times right? give or take depending on the driver of course. So this is a 298 HP V6.

My 1991 MR2 Turbo, bone stock can run about 14.5 from the factory too. This is a 200 HP, 4-banger. With a 15 dollar home made boost controller, boost can be safely turned up to 14 PSI from anywhere between 7-11 from the factory. This easily puts you into low 14's and even high 13 territory.

I mean when I say the G35 is not that fast, yes granted it is faster than 80% of any other car on the road, but why would you compare it to those? You would compare to other sports cars. That hardly puts it into the 80th percentile.
