I just got my g35 coupe 6mt and i was wondering what does the REV light mean manual sayz notmuch i know its for reving but what is it suppose to do light up when i rev to hight please tell me

It lights up when you are supposed to shift when you are flooring it. I think there is a way to change the rpm it will light up at, but I am not sure. I know you can in the 350... but I haven't tried in the G.

 

The lights on the back of the car that light up when you put in in reverse maybe?

At least on the 04s, I don't think they have a redline or rev limiter light. I don't remember seeing one the couple times I've pegged the limiter at least.

 

Its just a rev light telling you when to shift. You can adjust it to specify at what rpm you want the light to come one. Its kinda pointless I think. Basically its just a light that flashes when the desired rpm is hit. then shift.

 

the REV light is always on, but you can set your shift light to what ever you want. for example i have mine set at 7k, so when i hit 6.7k a lil red light right under the REV light will start blinking and once you pass that preset RPM it becomes solid. from factory it comes set at 8k.

For the 05's you use the small button by your gauges to change/set the rev light. Pressing the button scrolls through tripometer A, tripometer B and then your rev light RPM. My dealer changed mine from the factory set 8000 to like 3000 and it was coming on ALL the time. Once you see the RPM press and hold the button for a few seconds and then the RPM will blink. Now you can change it.

 

hey G35 peepz thank for your support this is great. What type of oil should be used and only change it when serviced or how often u drive it what type have you people been using and recommend .

 

Mobil 1 synthetic. I change it about every 4K miles

 

There is a red light below it that blinks when you are within 500 RPMS of a RPM that you set. When you reach the designated RPM the light turns solid. You set the RPM on the odometer, hit the black button on the dash untill you get through A trip, and B trip, then you will be at the RPM. Press and hold the blaack button and the number will blink, you can hold the button to increase the rpm level, then release the button and it will store the number. Press the black button again once the RPM stops blinking to return to your trip distance.
