Lately I've been seeing a lot of people taking photos of their new wheels (on their lovely G35 coupes, to keep the thread on topic) and they all seem to have to put a $100 bill on the lip to show the size of the lip.

This got me wondering... Since all bills are the same size why not use a $1 bill (like I did) or maybe a $5 bill? Does it have something to do with the "I'm a playa' yo" generation? Should I go take photos of my lip with my 401K statement nicely folded to the BALANCE = $XXX,XXX showing on the lip? Would that make me a baller, holler!

lol @ neffster. yes yes its just another opportunity to show how deep your pockets are. i have yet to use bills to show off my lip, but next time ill line up some quarters yea?

It's like in economics: there is an inverse relationship between the bill used and the size of your ***** - The larger the bill, the smaller your *****...

 

Putting bills on the lip has been around for so long that it's pretty much become the norm when showing off a deep dish wheel. I don't think people consciously do it for baller status recognition purposes anymore, they do it because everybody else does. Just like whiting out your plates, I bet you that some of the people that do it have no idea why it's done.

Neff, you know me and I don't flame you and agree with your comment. But your statement that I've captured above makes you guilty of the same thing you're complaining about. The fact that you indicate 6 X's in your 401k balance is a potential "show-off" too. For the record, I used a 2 litre bottle of Pepsi to show off my lip when I first got my PIAA's because I agree with your reasoning.

You will hardly find me with even $1 bill in my pocket. I never carry cash just my ATM/Debit card. I find if I have money in my pocket, I will spend it on useless stuff, but if I don't have cash I'll think twice about using my card.

 

I thought about laying my ***** on my 2 1/2" lip, but that might've backfired...
