Pics of SAT Antenna?

Re: Pics of SAT Antenna?
If the car is wired for satellite radio, why would an after market unit be FM modulated ?? Seems it would plug into the harness and work just as the dealer installed unit. ...dean

Re: Pics of SAT Antenna?
I could be wrong (so you probably want to check this out), but I *think* the plugs with all the consumer-purchasable receivers are different than the one on your wiring harness and ONLY the Infiniti kits can plug into them. Otherwise a lot more of the pre-wired people would have had satellite installed months ago without FM modulation. But everyone's waited for this kit, and I think that's the reason...otherwise you'd have to go the modulation route.

Clarion is N-bus for Nissan.. Alpine is AiNet. Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood all have their own bus specs.. There are some converters between aftermarket, but given how long a RCA-in adaptor has taken to bring to market for Nissan/Inf, I dont think we'll EVER see a N-bus to aftermarket sat tuner.

thats like saying you dont need cable/sat TV because ABC/NBC/PBS are all you need. If your local radio is *that* good, then you are truly lucky. I've been to almost every major market in the country, I never heard *consistant* quality playlists and the diversity I get every day on sat radio.

First, I'm not in a major market - that may explain it. I grew up listening to NY radio when it was still worth something - NOW, NY radio is ridiculous... nothing but commercials heaped onto commericals, with an occasional song. I'll admit that if I still lived in that area and spent a lot of time in my car (which I would, since commuting up there sucks royal moose *****), I'd get sat radio.
But I don't. I live roughly between NYC and Philly, and have no less than 5 local radio stations that cater to my particular taste in music (classic rock). Not to mention, I have KaZaA, Usenet (the great untapped resource), and a CD burner. I can burn a disc a day and never run out of tunes, mixed just the way I like, and it'll cost me a heck of a lot less than sat - OK, partially because my company pays for the CD's. BTW - Don't think the comparison to cable is a very valid one... two reasons: 1) around here, you have cable/DirecTV or you don't have television, period, and 2) Dude, really... I hate to quote Springsteen (never was a fan), but he's right - "57 channels and NOTHING ON!!!" At least with sat radio you actually get something good, cable just means you have something to watch!
