At what milage should I change the oil for the first time?

The book says 3750. Let your conscience be your guide.

I had my car on a lift at 2200, so I did it then.

If nothing else . . . Please check your oil level. I had my first oil change performed at 1600 miles and found out that I was 1.5 qts. low.

I agree, do it earlier. You never know how much oil it may be using. The book says 3750 miles or 3 months, so if you've had your car for 3 months get an oil change regardless of mileage.

I do mine early -- between 1500 and 2k usually. But I'm **** about metal bits etc early on. IMHO it's worth the investment, but the book says 3750 tho, so it must be safe.

I have usually changed my oil on my previous cars at every 2500 miles. Based on that, I have opted to use the regular oil.

I wouldn't do synthetic till the third oil change. Once I reach that period I use Mobil1 synthetic 5w-30.

Its a personal deal. I did oil change on 100miles then I did another at 500miles... I have 1000 right now, but I am approaching the "3750 or 3 month" mark so I will get my Premium Oil change when I get back to the US (The 22nd of this month). I'll also install my K & N then =D

BTW - I have the K&N Oil and Air filter. OIL filter any good?

Did mine at 3750. No need to do it any earlier really.. 3750 is allready extremely conservative.

I read that you should switch to synthetic after 10k miles.

Do your research before deciding what to put on your car.

http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html

If you just spent around 40k on a car, why not spend 30$ on 100miles oil change, and 30$ on 500 oil change?

You can never be too careful.
