Prep work before applying vinyl or 3M tape?
Soon I will be installing some splash guards as well as vinyl overlays, and I was curious as to people's opinions on what prep work should be done on the surface that they will be sticking to.
Do you recommend removing the wax (dawn, etc)? Or making sure there is plenty of it (put them on soon after I wax the area)??
This question applies to vinyl overlays (on the body) as well as the 3M tape used in the splash guards.
Thanks!

Well, I'm about to put on overlays and blue painters tape all over the bumper for a show [rock chip protection for the trip] as well as decals on the paint.
For the overlays I'm not doing anything except cleaning the area really well with Windex and maybe rubbing alcohol? Because I don't want these to come off.
As for the decals over the paint and the tape, I will be waxing the area very well. It will make it easier to take the tape off at the show as well as the decals and stickers a few days or weeks later. Waxing the car where the decal will be applied will also help so that when I do take them off you cant still see the sticker [like how some can still see the INFINITI once debadging is taken off the trunk].
Just be sure all the areas are thouroghly cleaned.
