ppl with Tints?
I recently had my tint replaced by my dealer along with the window because of scratches. They told me that all cars' windows are prone to being scratched by sand. Ever since I've learned that, I have never opened my windows. Are they bsing me?
Anyone with tints getting scratches after opening their windows? It's getting wayyy too hot in NYC.

To tell you the truth you cant live day to day worrying about the next scratch your going to get on your tint. Im not having any problems with scratches due to rolling the windows down. Just enjoy your ride and dont worry about the little things. Besides "Diamond films" have a scratch warranty, any scratch you can take it back and get it redone.
I heard 48 hours when I got my old cars tinted. I was wondering how this would work on the G, though. Our windows roll up and down slightly when you open and close the doors.... how do they account for that?
I just got my tint redone few days ago. They have to redo 4 out of 5 windows including the rear. It's just never perfect so I'm gonna give it up. At least better than last time. Also, last time they were stupid enough to put a tint on the dot matrix so this time, I didn't so it looks like they ran out of the film to cover the whole back. They recommended me using the black tape. What do you guys do with it??
Has anyone ever done just the 4 windows on the sides, and left the rear untinted? Personally, I was thinking about this, that way the matrix thing at the top isn't an issue, and I fear even the slightest bit of loss of visability at night time.

Ok guys...I mean my tint has been on for a couple of weeks already. Will it get scratched if I roll down my window? Dealer said that there will be sand that will always scratch the windows.
I am that **** that any scratch will bother me. Like Armani350GT said, I think I might just live with the little problems.

For some vehicles, it is more likely. The better films out there have a scratch resistant coating, but it is still possible for it to scratch if debris large enough is trapped in the inner molding. However, we haven't seen this problem for the Gs because the moldings not too tight. Cars like Mercedes, Ferrari, Bentley, BMW, etc have fairly tight moldings....for these vehicles, we would apply a felt strip on the inside to keep it smooth.

as for the sand scratching your tint.. your tints on the inside so dust from the outside isnt likely to scratch the film.. however it if it does.. who cares go get it done again.. i'm wonderng why some of you even bought a car.. isnt it easyer to just not own a car? then you wont have to worry about dings, rock chips, scratches, tree sap, water spots, etc..
heres my new tint 15% front 5% rear

Tint
Have my tint on for 2 months now, and no scratches. I always open my windows unless I put the AC on, then I close them. Dot matrix looks horrible in mine especially from the inside, but I don't have time to go back and complain. Take care.
Some of you guys have really strange concerns regarding your cars. Tint is on the inside of the glass. If your interior is dirty, then there might be a slim chance of sand or something scratching the tint but I've never heard that as a concern.
I just had tints done 2 week ago and they were able to sand down the dot matrix and apply the film right on top of it. For the most part, it looks great and there's only a few minor areas where it didn't stick. For the side windows on the coupes, there's a screw that connects to the door sensors near the center pillar. It controls that 1/2 inch up/down motion each time you open and close the doors. Loosen the screw and press the windows up and it won't come down. Make sure you tighten the scew before closing the doors though, else your windows won't come down that 1/2" and will clip the top of your door frame. My side windows were pretty much dry after 2 days and I didn't see any bubbles. Depending on the time of year and temperatures, it can take longer.
