Valentine1 setup on coupe

ill have my V1 on monday with the concealed display unit and was wondering what would be the perfect setup for the coupe. I live in virginia so they are illegal here.

Re: Valentine1 setup on coupe

A number of members both Coupe and Sedan have done this type of install. Try doing a search in mostly Off Topic and see what you find. Good luck.

i would say to mount it as high as possible to the right of the rear-view mirror, then wire the remote display somewhere either in your eye's view (and not the cop's) or in the ashtray (yes, it fits in there!)

Good luck, does the V1 beat the radar detector "detectors"?

The Valentine is invisible to the "detector-detectors" commonly used in the States, but there's a new one being used in Canada that's finding them. Not sure if it's made its way to the States yet.

Re: Valentine1 setup on coupe

I live in VA also...I made a custom box out of wood that I covered in willow colored vinyl and mounted the box on the headliner by the back window. I mounted the remote display in the cubby beside the hazard light (6MT, old console, not sure if they're different now). The remote audio is also nice, and it's in the ash-tray. The unit's front antenna sticks out of the box, and the back one shoots out a plexi-glass window towards the back. The unit picks up rear radar perfectly, but the forward range is somewhat less. I couldn't find any place to mount it in the front that wouldn't be obvious. Nobody has a clue what it is. I've asked people to "find the radar," and nobody's found it yet. I think it looks pretty good, although my vinyl upholstery skills are a little lacking, and some of the vinyl is coming off. Sorry, no pictures yet. I'm just too lazy to get the digital camera out.

I forgot where I heard it, but someone mentions that the next model V2 will be coming out sometime in the near future. Is this true?

Re: Valentine1 setup on coupe

I doubt your rumor on the basis of calling it the V2. The Valentine has been around for many years, and always called the V1/Valentine One. That said, Valentine is constantly making upgrades and changes to their units. Every unit you buy can be upgraded by them for a fee less than the price of a new unit. That is, if you buy a unit now, and they upgrade to a different software version, you can mail your unit in and they'll upgrade/replace it with the new version. It costs less than replacing the unit, but it's not cheap. (~150 or so, depending on the upgrade) V1's work so well now that unless police make more major changes, I don't plan on upgrading for minor changes.
