Repaint front bumper..

I should have put clear bra on my coupe's front bumper. I have 15000 miles now and there are rock chips on my front bumper. I was just wondering, how much will it cost to repaint the front bumper?
Can I use my insurance to cover the cost and will that effect my insurance premium?

Please give me your feedbacks guys...

Join the club! Same thing here 17K. I already looked into it and to do the job right (taking off the bumper), it would run around $400. Now add clear bra and you're looking at another $400 or so. Almost pays to go aftermarket. I don't think you can use insurance unless you just so happen to come out to your car one morning and someone *cough* keyed your bumper. Keep in mind that insurance companies are a business. If you put a claim in, no matter how many years you paid them without collecting, once they cut you a check, they will find a way to get that money out of you.

what about if road debri hit your bumper and caused damage such as scuff marks? you could claim it through your comprehensive coverage which shouldn't effect the rates, right?

Whenever the insurance company has to pay out a check, they will make up the difference! I don't care what anyone says. Once you collect from them, that's it, they will get thier money back!

You would be absolutely stupid (no offense) to claim front bumper chips to insurance. As Diesel said, they are a business and will definitely find a way to get that money back out of you. Not only would you lose any "accident free" discounts you might have, but your premiums would increase. The increases could easily stay with you for 5-10 years. According to my insurance buddy, a $1500 fender bender can easily cost you about 5X the cost so 1500*5=7500 over 5 years.

Do what you want, but I don't let my insurance company find out about anything.

VERY true! You can make the claim and for the most part nothing will happen at the moment in time, but 3 years down the line when you get a new car / policey / or whatever, they'll pull that claim out and say "ohhh I'm sorry but you don't qualify for a reduction or the special "raate" because you had a claim X many years ago..." It happens ALL THE TIME! They will get their money back one way or the other! Minor stuff like what you're mentioning, DO NOT go through your insurance co!

Reach down into your pocket, and fork it over in cash, or just live with it. Don't try and work the system - the system will end of working you!

What kind of insurance do you all have? I've had two hail claims, one accident, and windshield break(not the G).

My insurance hasn't gone up a dime! 400 deduct. 460 a term, two cars. The G, and my explorer...
