What other cars did you consider before purchasing your G?

Just a few random thoughts on the G even though I have not bought one yet. I need a fun daily driver that is dependable and relatively inexpensive to maintain. I've been thinking about what to get and am in no rush to spend more than 35-37K, let alone over 40K. So, what does that leave? The 3 series is OK and I have had 3 of them to date. A 330ci is over 40K and with the new body style out who wants an old style "new" car. The Benz are nice, the clk is sweet, but for 55K it better be. Lexus, maybe but what else is there really? Not interested in a FWD Acura or any american car like the G6. Guess the G35 coupe really has a nice spot in the market.

Being in the Philadelphia area getting an extra set of rims and snow tires does not excite me, figure that's another 1k?? The back seats are tight but will only be used very rarely, and they do offer enough room if the baby seat has to fit back there. Haven't made up my mind about when to purchase. Buy new 05 for a few hundred over invoice? Look for extremely low mile 04 and offer wholesale for a private ad? Maybe wait till the 06's hit the dealer lots and see if I want an 06, or hope that pushes the used/leftover prices down just a little.

Anyway, sure seems like a great car and a reasonable price. Am I over looking anything with this car?

Thanks for the feedback.

I looked at:

GTO
V70R
V50 T-5
IS 300
C320
CTS
Avalon
TL
G Coupe
Maxima
Altima 3.5
Accord V6

That's about it.

The short list was TL and G Sedan.

Quite honestly none. I had been following this car since it was released first as a sedan waiting for the coupe. I even went in and sat in the sedan to see if I was going to like it. Finally in '05 I got what I had been waiting on. Nothing in this price range compares IMO.

For my coupe, NOTHING.

Before my old G35 sedan, Audi A4, Lexus IS300, slightly 3 series. Thought I needed a 4 door.

The 5 series sure are nice but they are too expensive for what I am looking to spend. Neighbor has a 03 or 04 M3 and it is nice and damn fast, but also 50K. So it really does seem that the G35 is a good deal, 298hp, nice interior, great looking, etc.
