Scratched wheel: fix or powdercoat all four (NYC)
Scratched the $hit out of the driver side front wheel pulling into a hotel garage this past weekend. Called up Pepe Infiniti's service department and they said they have a wheel guy coming on Thursdays and he should be able to fix it for $150. Oh, and that he recommends to repaint both wheels on the side. The absurdity of repainting a perfectly good wheel that has seen 6500 miles mostly in dry weather seems to be lost on them.
Now the question is - if it's 150 to fix one wheel or ~200 to powdercoat all four+polish the scratch+mounting and dismounting costs, does it make sense to do the latter? My coupe is black on black, and I was thinking of powdercoating the wheels black as well with a couple of coats of clear to make it nice and shiny. And leave the center cap stock color. Went through the gallery but didn't see any black coupes with black non-polished lip wheels. Would some good samaritan be kind enough to photoshop one?
An issue complicating the decision is that I don't have a second set of wheels to drive around on while the main set is being powdercoated. So I need to look for a place that does there own mounting and dismounting and where I can leave the car on the blocks.
Can anybody recommend a place in or around NYC? Thanks.

FAST1,
I am thinking the same thing. But I also figure that I'll have an easier time making him redo it untill I'm reasonably happy in case he f-cks it up if I go through the dealer. Then again, may be not.
If anybody can recommend a good wheel repair shop in NYC that has fixed a stock 18" for you, that would be much appreciated.

I live in Central Jersey, and did the same thing. Screwed up my passenger front rim. I took it to my dealer who had an onsite repair service come and fix the rim. Gave me a loaner and took only about 5 hrs....
I had curb rash for approx. 12" on the lip of the rim.....
A couple of repair places gave me the same song, "I can't guarantee a match, you should repaint both rims" Well, that wasn't going to happen.
Anyway I found out the place that repaired my rim is called Alloy Wheel Specialists. They are in Neptune, N.J. They did an outstanding job on my rim. I can't even tell at times where it was repaired.......
Check out the pics.....they were taken shortly after the repair....
I was quite pleased, and I think there are many more places that will guarantee their work/match......

When i went In the get pricing at Pepe and work some sort of a deal they gave me the impression that they did not care weather or not i would purchase from them. I asked them what price they can goffer me on the G i wanted and they quated me a mo. pmt. I then asked again what price on the car and they quated me the full price. I aksed t what rate they would give me if my credit tri-merge was 700 or more and they gave me a rate around 8%. I i asked what insentives they gave and there were none. I finally said i want 1k off and a rate under 5% or i am going to look else-were. They only took $500-off. I then left Pepe and called up Deven Infiniti In fairfield CT about 30 min. from me, I ended up getting the car for $500 off, a rate well under 5%, and free oil changes for life. Most Importent factor was that they made me feel welcome and appreciated like any other dealer should when you are planning to purchase a 37-40k car.
