You can always change your alignment settings to prevent that type of tire wear, but you'll probably compromise your handling at the limits. I've owned many high performance cars like the Porsche 993 and 996, and you just don't get a lot of tire durability with these cars. It has a lot to do with the soft compounds of high peformance tires and of course the aggressive alignment settings.

All true. Case in point would be the early NSXs. People were having to get new tires every 5-10k miles because of the unusually aggressive alignment settings on the car.

If it is inherent to this type of car, there is nothing to be done obviously except get new tires. I can accept this. I never expected to get 40,000 miles out of these tires. I was hoping for 25,000 - but looks like I am only going to get 15,000. Either way that sucks.

So are you guys saying that our front end has nothing to do with how the '03-'04 Z's are configured in the lawsuit posted above? Or are you saying that the class action suit has no merit? Are we sure about either of these.

Again, I am very easy to accept the fate of the tires on this car. I just want to make sure before all that tire money comes out of my pockets.

Please take your car to your Dealer and get his views. To me the first thing to do would be to verify that your alignment is in accordance with the factory recommendations. If the answer is that your wheels are aligned properly, see what the dealer has to say and please share it with us. Some Dealers will do a lot to maintain good customer relations, so it won't hurt to find out what they think.

One last point. I have never gotten over 15K miles on any of my tires on high performance cars. So if you don't drive your car hard all of the time, you should get more than 10K miles on your tires but 25K miles would really be a stretch.

I will certainly take my car to the dealer in the next week and report back . However, I have not much faith regarding my dealers service dept. I will give them the opportunity of course!

But considering that I did talk to them on the phone and they already gave me the "performance car" speach even before being able to tell them my entire problem - I am doubtful.

The point of the thread I guess was to kind of have an idea of what to expect and to see if there was something I should specifically ask to have done.

I bet that if you took your car to any tire store, they'd tell you that you are in need of an alignment after looking at your tire wear. If you don't get satisfaction from your dealer and if you've got the time, you may want to visit a tire store that has mechanics that you trust and get their views.

I will do that. Thank you for the help.

Just so odd that it looks like many came from the factory this way...like it almost has to be "just the design." I certainly hope that something as simple and free as an alignment will do the trick.

Mine were doing the same thing. By the time that I noticed my tires were waring prettty bad. I got an alignment a while back I am waiting to use up all of the tread before I get new ones. I'll get it checked again before install.

24,000 km on my 2003 Coupe.. and still to this day I am experiencing the issue. Haven't had the time to bring it into the dealer. Will aim for that this weekend and let you know how it goes.
