Anybody gone to dealership to get brake pads?

Hi guys, about 2000 miles ago I went to get my brake pads replaced cuz of some squeaking, they told me I still had enough MM and that they couldn't do it unless it dropped under that number (I forgot what the # was)... then the service advisor was like : "It could be your painted calipers causing the squeaking ?!

Anyways, it's starting to squeak more and more nowadays and I want to get it checked up before I reach the 30K mark (at about 25K now)... however I am curious if they will blame my suspension or my plenum or anything like that... anybody have modded vehicles go in for warranty jobs and get rejected?

Just curious--I know that they can't void a warranty based on certain mods on certain areas that are Non-applicable to the application--but I'm just curious which dealerships are good

Not sure how it is for other brakes (BREMBOS)... but with my 5AT 2003 brakes, I get free pads until 30K I believe

my suggestion is to just upgrade to hawk pads.. massive deal right now.. 100 for non-brembo and 135 shipped for brembos

free brake pads....is that really true?
I didn't think that wear items like pads are covered by warranty

the 03's 5AT have 36mos/36000 miles warranty on pads and rotors. They might not change the pads if it just squeaking, but if they are worn down to certain mms they have to replace them under the warranty!, I have my front pads and rotors change out at 13k/29k and rear pads changed at 17k, and thats with aftermarket rims.

metalic brake pads squeek and give off more dust. too bad the brake pad replacement doesnt apply to brembo brakes it's over $1k to do the job. For that amount i'd rather upgrade the front rotors and pads with a stoptech rotor, braided lines and, pads kit. of course, you'd lose warranty

to replace or to upgrade, either way, you'll win.
