Go to a windshield/glass store and pay about $300.

I've seen those cheap windshields. All wavey, makes me ill to try to drive with one. You also have to make sure they dont butcher your car at some budget place.

We have a glass place here that is priced between the budget places and the dealer.. they use OEM glass and will get the OEM trim if it needs replacing.. they also cover the car when working on it. (no tools on the bare hood). They can do it without windnoise or goo coming out of the seams (what happens sometimes if you dont replace the seal strips/trim)

Dealer wants me to pay $190 to add lock nuts and to warranty my winshield against cracks and my wheels against scratches. Maybe it's worth it...

Re: Windshield replaced - $1200
I've always had my windshields replaced by those "Free" places which pay your deductible. Never had a problem, but then again, I never had as nice a car as this before.

Why was your deductible so high at $500? Usually windshields are covered under Comprehensive with a deductible of around $100-$200.

Re: Windshield replaced - $1200
Your deductible can be anything from $50 to $500. The premiums on the policy are quite a bit less with a larger deductible -- save money on the insurance, but take a hit when you use it, or pay more every month for the lower deductible. If you have a lease or loan, the banks generally only require a deductible of $500 or less on the comprehensive coverage.

Re: Windshield replaced - $1200

I've had stuff like this happen on other cars. When it's a commercial truck, I get their numbers and call the company. They'll usually cough up the deductible or just pay for it outright - they regard it as a cost of doing business, even though their trucks say "Not responsible for objects coming from road" and crap like that.

It's like I always tell my wife - If you don't ask, you don't get..
