Nissan for Oil Change

Is it safe to bring my 05 coupe for an oil change to a local Nissan dealer? The infiniti dealers are not that close while I have a Nissan dealer literally 5 minutes from my door. All I need is an oil/filter change and they would be able to take me immediatly. What do you guys think?

Do it. My local dealer (where I bought my G35) wants an appointment (usually 2 days notice) for an oil change and charges $34.95 and the Nissan dealer down the road (same owner - even same name 'cept the brand on the end) takes drive ups and charges $29.95. No brainer on that one. Nissan dealers can't do warranty work on Infinitis, though.

I did that once...i don't think it makes a difference but my local infiniti dealer charges about $40 bucks with tax for an oil change. They use a synthetic blend oil. I took it to a Nissan dealer...paid $25 for the oil change but they used regular oil. I asked about Synthetic blend at Nissan and they told me i would end up paying about $40 bucks.

I'm thinking the car can take any oil...but the price difference comes in the type of oil used.

Didn't know that they had separte service departments.

Where I live, Inifiniti and Nissan are together.

Umm my local Infiniti dealer charges $50 for an oil change (non-synth of course) and my local Nissan dealer charges $25 plus they know me and let me hang out at the shop. No brainer here either.

here´s a tip to get a free loaner for an oil change. I did this when I had to go to LA and needed a car, and didn´t want to put miles on mine. Schedule an appointment for 30 mins before they close on sat. They wont be able to do your oil change then (they usually get backed up by walkins, etc.) They will give you a loaner. Now my service department is closed on sundays, so I return the car on Monday, after putting about 450 to 500 miles on it. Just thought I´d let you guys know this trick, but don´t abuse it or they wont do it anymore.

No service departments are open on Saturday (well, car dealer service departments) in my neck of the woods.

Right. Four hundred-fifty to 500 miles over two days, that's not abuse. You'd have to but five or six thousand on there to really get them upset.

If I pulled that stunt at my local Infiniti dealer two things would happen: One, I'd get talked to when I brought the loaner back, and rightly so; and two, I'd feel guilty. What comes around goes around. What's the point in screwing a dealer out of 500 miles, especially one nice enough to give you a loaner for two days over an oil change of all things?

Why not change it yourself? It's a five minute job. Just keep your receipts to prove that you made the change according to Infinit's recommendations.

The guys at nissan are more than capable of servicing your G completely. The 350z is also an identical twin. I wouldn't know if they can claim for warranty work though.

It's only an oil change and even regular oil will do the job. Just make sure you check the level in between and be sure the change the oil every 4000 miles.
OK, I didn't include the time that it takes me to get my car on and off the ramp.

I go to a Nissan dealer too occasionally and they're fine....as well as a little cheaper.
Only drawback with them is that they can't perform warranty work for you.
