Ice cold ac??

Just wondering...how's the ac in the g? I'm still waiting on mine but it's on my mind since it's pretty hot here today in ct.
Is it one of those systems that you set to max (recirculation) and high fan and have to keep it going the whole ride or one of those systems turns the car into an ice box in no time?

Re: Ice cold ac??

I've taken a couple of trips up into the desert northeast of LA (Lancaster, the armpit of Southern California), and it cools the car down fairly quickly and keeps it there on one of the lower fan speeds.

Re: Ice cold ac??

Hello: when i get in the car this afternoon at work parked in part shade and part sun(not not good) the outsides temp reads 94, i think it took A.C. only bout two mins to cool the car down and stays cool all the way home, at second fan setting, i just got it tinted so i cant roll the windown down right now, but i do have remote starter so i can start the car and leave the fan runs a lil before i get in, i really helps and remote starter (clifford's rs3) only cost me 400 installed...s.w.

Re: Ice cold ac??

Living in Houston, A/C is important. The G's is excellent. It has been in the mid-90s with high humidity, like 105-110 temp index for a week or so. I have covered parking at work, but it's still hot, and when I leave with the A/C set on 74, it runs on high fan for about 3 mins then starts dropping. It's cool in the car by then. Never have used recirc., speed doesn't seem to matter. (Have an Expedition that needs speed to really cool down in hot weather, and a Maxima that needs recirc. in this weather to cool) I give the G A/C a 10.

Yea, here in coastal ct humidity is killer too. Glad to hear I can expect good ac...now if only I can get my condo's central ac to cooperate with me I'll be all set!

Re: Ice cold ac??

Personally I think my G Coupe AC is average. It doesnt seem as cool as my other cars. The air doesnt blow out evenly, but it gets the job done. And our heated seats, that is another story. It sucks. I can barely feel the heat.

Re: Ice cold ac??

Checking in from ATL - we had high 80s, ~85% humidity and I had my car set on 72. My wife turned her side up to 75 and I said "Wait - I thought you were hot". I turned mine up too. That tells me it can keep up pretty well, because we had been in the car about 5 minutes.

It's about 90 today, but I left my G in the carport and they just poured my new driveway (minimum 5 days without the G), so I can't tell you how it does at 90-plus..

Re: Ice cold ac??

It sounds crazy but I've been in cars that had ac that was too cold...a rental subaru impreza comes to mind. It was uncomfortably cold..had to keep turning it off but that's not great for keeping the humidity down and air circulating.
I sure am looking forward to that auto climate control in the g though =)

Re: Ice cold ac??

I keep mine on manual recirc, with the temp set all the way down, I'd rather bump the fan down to a lower level than adjust the air temp upwards. That's why I don't use the auto mode, it's way to agressive with the fans, I don't want that full-out level-5 air blasting in my face when level 3 or 4 will do just fine for cooling the car off. Plus to get the auto mode to back off you have to raise the target temp, which I think adjusts the air temp coming out also.

The AC works very well, even in the hot and humid Houston weather we've been having (heat index over 100). I also really like the vents; the way the whole thing rotates up/down allows you to aim the vents where you want much better than traditional vents IMHO.

Re: Ice cold ac??

With my outside temperature gauge reading 102 degrees today, I really cranked it, just to see how "cold" it would get. Let's just say my girlfriend's headlights went "full on" quickly. It only took another 15-20 minutes after that to get to the point that she complained about how really cold she was before I turned the temp up to normal levels again.

Seems to work great.

Re: Ice cold ac??

Shitt, with 95 degrees and 65% humidity here on long island today, I still ran with the windows down! I did take my mom for a ride to the store yesterday with the same weather and I cranked up the A/C for dear ol ma and it seemed to never turn down the fan. I did set it at 60 though, so maybe its unattainable for these new inferior A/C units.

Glad to hear it works well in Texas though, thats the REAL test of the G's A/C!

Re: Ice cold ac??

"ice" cold AC...i dont think G35's AC are ice cold, they are "freezing" cold,as i stated in ohter post, the door handle reminds me of walking in freezer...today we have other hot one here in S.F. bay area outside is bout 90 when i got off work two hours ago, it again took only 2 mins to cool the car off, remote starter helps again...just find out one other incentive bout getting a remote starter is that, now i have auto power door locks!!! it will lock and unlock as i trun the key on or off...s.w.

Re: Ice cold ac??

With temperature guage reading 109 degreeeeeees when I got in my car here in NJ, it took minutes to cool down the car, and keep it cool. I love the climate control - my first car with climate control in it. Sweet!
