Ditto, although I traded out of a 1998 Maxima vice 2002.

I just bought G 05 AT last weekend. when I was shopping for the insurance, I too was a bit shocked on how high the insurance was for me. I am 25 and live in CA. I am paying annually $2500 for insurance. G35 is costy car, but it sure feels good to drive around. I agree that insurance is on high side...well, at least for me

Heard though that car insurance for G35 is extremely high according to my friend. And that HIS friend who owns a g35 got involved in an accident and ended up paying 15K in damage for his own car and 9k for the other?!

My friend advised me to go with the RX8 but I personally dont like the RX8's exterior, especially compared to the g35's.

1.) Was your car insurance payment above average?
2.) Are the parts for the g35 that expensive compared to other cars?

Personally I disagree... On my 2001 Acura 3.2 CL-S I was paying 192... My brand new G35 is costing 162, which will be dropped another $25 once it comes for renewal. If you have a clean record, you should be paying $$$.

LOL, I wish I had such a low rate. Mine is $2600/6months!!!! $2500/year would be a gift!

Again, perfect record, 23 years old.

Wow, I'm paying $1300/year. And that's for my G and my Grand Prix together.

27 w/clean record

Man, I wish I was that lucky. I seriously am thinking about registering my car at a relative's farm out in Mississippi because me paying $5200/year is robbery in my opinion. Its absolutely absurd. Especially since I have a perfectly clean record.

I even had one company quote me as high as $6600/year for the G35, can you imagine?!

Yes, it can, depending on your provider.

Most insurance companies will discount their rates for students who maintain a B average.

If your worrying about insurance, then you probably cant afford to get this car. Other than that insurance is not high on the coupe at all, but alot of different factors contribute to that. If your 25 and up rates are very reasonable considering you dont have more than one speeding ticket, if your under that expect to pay a bunch or sign with a parent. Im 27 and pay about 120 a month. Not bad ill take it.

I have a similar experience.

My 04.5' G35 Coupe is one of the cheaper cars I have to insure.
It's only about $20 more per 6 months than my 98' Pontiac GTP. About $400 per 6 months cheaper than our 03' TL, and about $500 per 6 months cheaper than our 05' TL.

FWIW, my brother is paying about the same to insure his 05' Odysee as my wife's departed 03' TL.

Insurance dropped almost 30% from an 01 Mustang GT convertible to the 03 G.

My insurance dropped when I purchased my 05 G35C MT compared to that of my old Eclipse GSX. The quoted price for an RX-8 was slightly less than for the G at the time I made my buying decision.

Insurance rates depend on a lot of things. Location and age are the biggest drivers of cost. Thus, comparing a "hot" car driven by a 40 year old in Nebraska gets a lot different rate than a Kia driven by a 21 year old in NYC or CA. The best thing you can do is to get quotes from your current insurance agent to get relative prices. By using your current agent, you also make sure you are comparing apples to apples. That is, using identical coverages. If the coverage is not the same, then the price is not comparable.

Based on the answers in this and many other threads, the G is not an expensive car to insure. At least not for the price and style of car.
