BS about insurance?

I am really close to deciding to get a g35.
Heard though that car insurance for G35 is extremely high according to my friend. And that HIS friend who owns a g35 got involved in an accident and ended up paying 15K in damage for his own car and 9k for the other?!

My friend advised me to go with the RX8 but I personally dont like the RX8's exterior, especially compared to the g35's.

1.) Was your car insurance payment above average?
2.) Are the parts for the g35 that expensive compared to other cars?

Isn't the whole point of getting insurance so you don't have to pay $15,000 for your car and $9,000 for someone else...I'd have to say suck it up , if you liker the car, pay the price, don't let insurance turn you off of a great car...

Wink

It's more than most, but I don't think it's outrageous, I get a good discount though, no accidents on my history...personally I don't like the rx8 looks very much either

Obviously where you live influences insurance costs (I live in Chicago) but when I had my '02 Jeep Grand Cherokee my insurance was $81/month. With the G, it's about $102/month. Keep in mind that I'm 27, haven't had an accident in years, and get a "multi-policy discount" through State Farm.. Since I don't know your circumstances, your rate my vary...

Unless your friend let his policy lapse, there's no way he would have to pay out of pocket other than his deductable. The figures you were given were probably for what the insurance paid out for the repairs for both cars. When I swapped my Honda Element for the G35, my insurance went up $104/yr. The 350Z on the other hand was going to be $300 more. Funny what an extra set of seats can do to an insurance premium. Getting an RX8 instead won't affect your premium any more than a G will.

I hope you don't live in New Orleans, its one of the WORST places to get insurance in the country. The rates are extremely high because of horrible roads and theft issues.

Im 23, no accidents or tickets on my record, researched EVERY insurance option for weeks, and the best I could get for full coverage was $5200/year with a $500 deductable.

When I had a C5 vette a few years ago the insurance was $7200/year !!!

Had an RX8 and my insurance was 5 dollars more for the coupe, but the coupe cost more also. I HATED the RX8, it handled nice but that was it. Lack of torque killed me plus adding a Turbo which the stock trans and rearend could not handle would only result in a at best high 13 and I mean high 13. I hated it most because of the flooding issue at startup, could never get comfortable with that. Now I am selling the G but only for financial reasons but I absolutely love this car and will hopefully own again or if I dont sell and suck it up enjoy it while I have it. But will never own another Rotary in my life! Good luck with whatever you purchase.

before i bought my G35, i got quotes for 350Z, G35 and RX8 .. it came to a difference of $200/yr for each (350Z was highest and RX8 lowest). The difference was not high enough to sway my decision in RX8's favor.

Right now I pay $68/month in OR ($1000 deductible).
