Granted that the M3 in question is a 2001 but it only has 28K miles on the odometer. Hopefully a $55K M3 will last for more than 28K miles before it starts to fall apart.

Either way, if this is all the guy has to complain about he should consider himself pretty fortunate. Until this last SNAFU (and we don't know if his aftermarket alarm is causing the problem - or something similar) he didn't have a show-stopper to speak of...

I've had my coupe for 2.5 years and 65k miles. The only major work I've had done is the tranny. I have absolutely no reservations about driving this car past five years and I have a first year model. BMWs are great for leasing, but don't even think about owning one past warranty or for 8 years. Sure my coupe has some rattles, but it has never left me stranded and has started everytime for the last 2.5 years.
