Since when is insurance fraud "personal purposes"?
As an added note, check to see if your state has a disclosure on the title of the car for the odometer. I'll bet it also has a box to check if the reading is not correct. Fail to check the box, you are in for doing the time. Even if you tranfer title to the insurance company for salvage. (Of course, claimng a higher value on salvage is also fraud.)

On nearly all new cars it's basically impossible to do, anyway. As others have said, the mileage is actually kept in at least two places. If one's reading goes too far from the other, the car will start setting mileage faults, easily alerting anyone that there is a problem.

Yup if the car was from the 70's or 80's you could but the new ones?? No way. You could always have some guy break into the car and smash the gauges and steal the ecu.... Hahaha
