YEEEAAAH. 2005 Athens Blue G35c Write-up w/*PIC*
Finally got a picture of the new coupe, time to post.
First off, thanks to all who post here, this forum is a wealth of knowledge for someone deciding to buy, and contains answers to almost every question imaginable.
Ordered my 2005 Coupe from Grubbs Infiniti back in May, one of their allocated units that was part way through production. Took delivery on July 25th. Ordered it because I didn't want the sunroof or Premium Pkg. (have a '92 Camry with a sunroof, opened 3 times in 3 years; as far as Prem. I plan on doing aftermarket stereo and didn't need the other options). Ended up with an Athens Blue Coupe with splash guards. Sweeeet.
I currently have 694 miles on it. Following the break-in instructions (some do, some don't) but seriously looking forward to getting it up over 4 grand... hardest mile on it so far was mile 600, when I pseudo-raced my friend and his Mazda6. Hard to race under 4000 rpms though.
Had a Venture Tape Clear Bra installed by The Bra Man [slogan: I'll fit your size!] here in Denver. He does an amazing job, covered the entire front bumper, fenders, 24" up the hood and the sideview mirrors. Total cost = $680, worth every penny. After the first wax, you can't even see the dang thing.
Observations:
1. The clutch is a beast to drive. 1st gear and 2nd are the most difficult, if I concentrate really hard every time I can engage smoothly, but if my attention wavers it gets a 1 hop into 1st and a bit jerky into 2nd. I learned on a stick and drove a stick through my first three cars, although the last one was an automatic.
2. The paint is soft. Shiny, but soft. Don't have any scratches yet, the main reason I got the clear bra.... you may be able to paint the hood for 700 dollars, but the entire time I am driving it will look good.
3. Transmission seems loud. Not necessarily like there is anything wrong with it, but when you are idling and you shift into first you can hear the engagement, and if you shift around between the gears it doesn't get any quieter.
4. Tires are a bit noisy, OEM 19's make it a rougher ride, but I really gives you a sense of the road, you are driving a sports car.
5. This car sticks to the road... now I haven't driven too many nice rides, but compared to the experience I have, it is amazing. Handling has a great feel, I like whipping through round-abouts.
6. Turning radius sucks. Turning around on a side street almost always requires reverse.
The coupe is pretty impressive. I love driving it around, friends and family can't stop commenting about the color, the Athens Blue is exactly what I wanted, and the Wheat interior makes is look rich.
After breakin it is up to Fort Collins, CO for a canyon run.

Break-in period is a b*tch !!! I'm at 500 miles and can't wait to go WOT. I agree 100% on your comments about clutch, tire noise, and turning radius. Have you figured out what the card holder is above the drivers window ???
Athens Blue was my 2nd choice, had to go white this time after my last 2 cars were black.
