also this car has a 4 year/60k mile warranty. You still have 10k miles to find any problems.

^^anyway thanx for the reply, i found a 7000 miles G, i posted in #13. The Metro Infiniti dealer asking price is $29999. How much do you think I should negotiate? The G came with sunroof only in IP 6MT 2004. I think everything else is base. and if you bought from a delaer, I think the warranty is extended.

I found a IP 6MT 2004 with 7000 miles and sunroof, but the dealer wants $30000 for it which is less than kbb private party value of $32k, should I be a look out on something? They said its certified. I know some people doesn't like to buy used cars, but some people doesn't like to put so much money on a car that will be used only for 2 years.

dude.. your grammar sucks.. "doesn't"???

I bought my car used from an Infiniti dealer. Prior to buying it I drove it for a couple hours and asked them if they minded if I had a mechanic inspect it. They didn't, so I did. He was a friend so I just gave him $50 for his time. Once he gave it the OK I got a carfax report that let me know the car had had one owner and had a clean history, at that point I decided to go for it. it had 33,560 miles on it and I got an awesome price and am totally happy with it overall. The only downside, I guess, was that I had to pay tax. Oh well.

So ya, if I was going to buy a used car from a new car dealer again (I don't do used car lots) I would do the same thing. Drive it for awhile and if you like it have a reputable mechanic inspect it thoroughly (might cost $2-$300), do a carfax report (not sure what it costs, I had someone with an account do it), and then decide. I wouldn't discount used sports cars like G35's because not everyone is spinning their tires and redlining it light to light. Since you're in California you have some of the best laws behind you re: buying a used vehicle as Hooman mentioned.

Don't listen to the few saying never buy used. As long as you take a few easy precautions others mentioned, you'll be fine. I like to buy my cars from individuals out of their driveway. I can look where the car has been parked (garage or out in the sun?). I can look them in the eye and ask them what's wrong with the car. It's a much more personal way to buy a car, which some people can't handle, but it's the best way to get a car.

Having said all that, I do think G35's are an exception. They are high end enough and new enough that the only way to practically buy them used is from a dealer. Individuals who buy $36K cars don't usually sell them themselves, they trade them in on $40K cars. The other problem is that I think a used G35 is a bad deal compared to a new one. They seem to be currently $6K above what they should cost at the moment. A 2003 G35 with 50K miles should be aroun $21K but I can't seem to find one for less than $26K-$27K. Hopefully that will change when the 2006s are released or when the 5 year leases start finishing up.

well, since I can't find a financing on private party purchase, I bought a IP 6MT 2004 with 7000 miles today from a dealer. It has premium package and spoiler. I got it for $35k out the door. I know that you can get cheaperfrom buying a new car, but do you guys think its a good deal? kbb value is $32k too, with tax n registration came up to $35k too.

If i remember correctly, while I lived in LA 50k miles was considered "low miles."
