Question Installing Brembos on 05 6MT

I just picked up my new 05 6MT coupe and was really suprised and disappointed it didn't come with Brembos. Every review I'd read of the car said they came with Brembos and I assumed that included the 05 because I didn't see it listed as a year change on most of the sites. I guess I should have checked here I atributed the feel difference between the 350Z Track version I test drove and the G35 to the G35 being a heavier car and never really thought to look.

After searching I've seen people saying it may have been because of wear and cost issues, but I wondered if anyone had tried refitting an 05 with Brembos from an earlier year Coupe? Are there any issues anyone can think of with trying this? Are there any other parts that are different besides the caliper, rotors, and pads that anyone knows of? I searched and haven't seen anyone talk about trying to refit an '05 with earlier model year brakes.

You bought the car without knowing it did not come with Brembos?

If your going to spend a few grand to do it then you might as well just put a whole new big brake kit on.

Exactly, you can spend 3-4k and put 4 or 6 piston calipers on the front with cross drilled/slotted rotors. I know I would if I could afford it. Im saving money for the 07 skyline

If you're a member of my350z.com, you'll find members selling their Brembos for $2K or less for from time to time. That's a really great deal IMO. The Brembos on my '03, are the best brakes I have ever owned. Great feel, modulation, fade resistance, and stopping power.

Brembos on 05

I got em on my 05 G35 6MT. I Got the 13" Rotars. They Fit perfectly and there is no problem installing them. Go with the Gran Turismo line up. Expensive but very good ..

There was a set of Brembos on ebay with a buy it now of $1200 (front and rear, calipers, and rotors). If I didn't already have Brembos, and I had the cash, I would have jumped on that.

As stupid as this sounds, yes. I really didn't notice until I was at the dealership to sign paperwork, etc. Everything I had read about the car on most of the car sites gave specs identical to the brakes quoted on the Track Z and in the reviews in the magazines. I checked out Hawk Performance (brake pads) and the tire rack, both of who listed the same pads as on the Track Z. The only place I found something different was in the Infinity brochure after I realized all this. I was really excited about getting the car and obviously not really thinking too much about it at the time. I can't believe I'd overlooked something like this and do feel pretty stupid about the whole thing, but there's nothing I can really do about it now. I still really like the other features of the car and I'm looking at maybe a way to solve this. I was thinking maybe I could try and find a salvage G or find someone who's been complaining about pad wear and get some Brembos.

why do you want the brembo's so badly? are you going to track your g? if not, you will probably not notice that big of a difference in daily driving. and i would look into a big break kit (BBK) if you want the brembo's. wilwood or stoptech, they look just as good or even better than the brembo's. might even out perform. and remember they're track brakes so they're expensive to maintain

Yes, I do plan to track my G35. The reason I even looked at this car in the first place was I thought it handled pretty much like the Z. In the Z range you have the Track version with a little more horsepower, bigger wheels, and bigger brakes and then you have the Touring with heated seats (nice to have in Wisconsin), leather seats (nice to have but not neccessary), and power seats (really not neccessary). For a little bit more money I thought you could get the G35, which had all of those and while its a heavier car would perform just about as well, be an easier car to live with day to day, and be a whole lot better looking than the Z. When I researched people tracking and autocrossing G35s I found a good amount of information and some great videos of people at some tracks I've been at like Sear's Point and some I want to go to like Road America. As for the expense I don't really have a problem with shelling out a little more money for pads and rotors and can do the brake maintenance myself.

Interesting . . . I am curious, as well, if any '05 owners with OEM 19's have attempted this.
