your info is old info floating around since years ago, just read the article, its coming out under toyota. and it will be a high volume car with NA 4.0L V6... it will be priced compeitively vs the Z. I think a DOHC 4.0L v6 should be able to make 330-350hp.
Therefore, its probably going to put out EVO/STI performance, but wont be a tuners wet dream like the J2Z supra. It wont be in the same class of cars as the GT-R. Lexus LF-A or the rumored IS460 hybrid are more likely competitions.

The Supra would be an interesting application for a 4.0L V6, considering V6's of that displacement are usually only used in truck/SUV applications (ex. Frontier, Tacoma, Wrangler, etc.). It's difficult to make a 4.0L V6 run smooth enough for car applications.

It will be interesting to see if a Supra with a 4.0L V6 will be released.

As far as I am concerned, the more competition the better. Just makes Nissan/Infiniti work that much harder when the Skyline debuts in North America....

I saw one on the road already today. It looks pretty conservative but I doubt the G will smoke it. The is350 is est. to be around 5.6s 0 to 60 and I doubt the G is much faster. The fact that it's a lexus probably means it will be the most reliable car money can buy. Although it's at the cost of passion of driving but so far I heard Toyota has tuned down the nanny control and it isnt much of a scarfice. If priced correctly I am tempted to get a car build as solid as a vault with minimum compromise on driving.

Actually, according to the press review I've read, Lexus didn't turn down the nanny controls and it did kill the performance feel of the new IS. Acceleration-wise, it will be on par or slightly faster than the G35, but handling-wise and overall driving feel (steering, pedal efforts, body control, etc.), the G35 is much better.

Oh, and it will be priced closer to the BMW 330i than the G35, probably at least $3000 more for a IS350 than a G35.

Cool, I dont want to speculate too much. I will wait for the an established car mag to review it first and after my test drive coming up this Fall

Toyota had hinted that the future of the Supra or any other exotic would depend on their success in F1. As far as I know, they've done pretty well this year so I wouldn't be surprise to see it coming.

Supra is probably coming out because Toyota sees all the money Ford is making off the Mustang. The supra's competition will be 350z, Mustang GTs, and all the other high-HP pony cars scheduled to be shown by detroit this coming auto show season. This car won't compete with the likes of Lexus, BMW, or Infiniti. The Supra will be toyota's main coupe now that the celica is history with the smaller coupes relegated to the scion brand.

/BTW, the Mustang V6 also has a 4.0L V6 with lots of torque, but not much HP. I trust Toyota will put a much more refined V6 in the supra.
