IS350 have a lot of electronic nanying going on, thats true. But that engine is also a very potent engine, combined with sequenctial manual transmission with steering wheel mounted paddles, I think its going to comepete with our car rather well as far as straightline performances goes. It will never be as sporty though.

 

The IS350 will not have a sequential manual transmission (SMG), but rather a 6-Speed Automatic with manual override via paddles on the steering wheel.

Here's a quote from the Lexus website:

They allow you to shift quickly and precisely through the gears without having to remove your hands from the wheel. ohh ok, that sucks then , its still just a fancy 6 spd auto. I thought it was that good stuff on M3 and ferrari 360s. Im a disappointed.

 

Please share what you've read. I think manufacturer's estimate is 5.6 seconds to 60, which is not actually raping a G35 with less HP and torque. Also, will the 6AT allow you to hold revs or will it shift automatically?

 

0-60mph time is close to what you are saying. What I'm reading is in km so it's a litlle bit different. Their max hp and trq comes in much lower than the G. As far as the transmission goes, it's a normal 6AT with paddle shift. Not a pure Sequential like SMG. What they're claiming is that automatic shift time is faster than the ones from Ferrari. Definitely it will shift faster than you 6MT drivers, unless you can shift like a professional racers. But you can't drop the clutch so thats the disadvantage. You have to see the actual gear ratio to know how it accerelate. Wheels are 225/40R18 and 255/40R18. Wider tread and tires will give very good tranction too.

 

wat im hearin is that the is350 is aimed at g35 and 3 series and 350z's but the supra and r 32 r coming out as well maybe b4 2007 the r32 under infiniti and the supra under lexus going for bout 60 g's and will be aimed at cars such as corvete z06 and ferari can anyone elaberate on wat i heard??

 

true, the IS350 is aiming at BMW 330. what i dont understand or agree is that how is BMW NOT the benchmark anymore? sure nissan is making some nice cars these days and Z/G are really kicking ***. however, infiniti (their M35/45, and G35) are still really a level behind BMW and Benz. Sure the BMW is more expensive than the G, but it's still a better car overall (altho it may not be as fast). whats the point of looking at the infiniti flash animation? lol.. of course they would THINK and try to convince you that they have BMW beat... but yeah...just wishful thinking!

dont get me wrong, i LOVE the G and will get one soon, but BMW is the benchmark for its reasons.. and its NOT just been fast. i think infini, especially the G is coming close..but def. NOT beating it out.

of course, it's not even a competition when it comes to BMW 5 series and the infinti M class. they maybe in similar class, but still very diff cars!

 

That's the mentality that BMW loves. I really don't get what's better about a 3 series? Is it that it falls apart after a few years so you get to learn how the car works from fixing it so much

R32? if youre talking about the R32 GT-R, its been out for like a decade
4.0L V6 supra will not cost 50k it will cost high 20s, low 30s.

 

g35 won most of the comparisons in magazines vs bmw 3 series..
only until recently in the C&D or motortrend one where the auto g35c went up vs new auto E90 330ci. Im still waiting for a 6mt vs 6mt comparison of the new cars, i have a feeling G35 will win. its not that I dont like bmw, i just think g35 is better than anything short of the M3 in the 3 series. M3 is a whole lot better than G35 though IMO. (if cost is not a factor). Its not all about power either, i just dont see how a 330ci mt can out corner or out slalom a 6mt with the 19" performance tires and sport suspension. In fact i think its a potitical move in bmw's favor when they compared the autos instead of the manuals. because usually when they comepare coupes, they compare manual versions. 330 wouldnt stand a chance vs the G35c 6mt

 

lol yes i know the R32 gtr has been out for a decade i know someone that has one kim johnson lol but anyways they are rumors that there coming out with a new skyline under the infiniti name and nooo the supra isnt gunna cost no 20-30's lol thats way to cheap my friend has a supra and he paid like 30 for it but o wells lol
