I have gone through past posts, and can't really find a definate answer. My question is, Is it worth it to mod the 05 6mt? Some people say they lost power, some people say that the power increase was minimal. Should I wait until companies starting comming out with performance parts specifically for the 05? Is that ever going to happen?

I say it's probably not worth your money unless you plan on boosting. Of course, if you have money to put into Mods and just want to add things for personal enjoyment then I say go for it.

So if I buy an 06 and put Nismo headers, high flow cats, and Greddy Evo2 exhaust, get the ecu flashed, and put Nismo intake, and plenum on the car it wont be any faster? That doesn't seem right?

There is no ECU for the '05 rev up engine. The mods for the '03-04 engine is based on those engines only. The '05 rev up engine has different intake runners, vvt on both intake and exhaust sides, different ECU mapping and other modifications. You should wait for companies to do the R&D first before using a non-rev up modification.

What about exhaust mods. The exhaust shouldn't have changed correct. I can still use the same headers, cats, and exhaust right?Originally Posted by Deang35c6

You shouldn't have a problem with fit, but you may not realize the amount of gains seen by those same mods on a pre-'05 engine. I'd find it hard to believe that the headers wouldn't still provide some gains.

Mods do not seem to provide any significant gains to 05+. Compared to pre 05s they seem to just add + 10 hp if that. Until I can afford FI, well hopefully I will be able to afford m3 then.

Why buy an M3? If you have almost 20K to invest in another car, you should put that to customizing your G. A G with that much invested in it would be a lot faster and look a lot better than a stock M3 IMO.Originally Posted by transportchef

For the most part....you have the right idea....most mods were based on 03 cars....Certain mods will work.....Lighter flywheels...3.9 gearing.....those will help....don't know of any unsatisfied customers....less u talk about tilton....and it wasn't performance that was the issue.

Exhaust and headers should work, but I'm not sure about the cats. They do feed the ecu and have caused a rich condition in 03-04 G35s and 350zs.Originally Posted by 007G35

Thanks everyone
I have come to the conclusion that I'm going to wait, until more R&D has gone into the 05 6mt. But I do want a meaner sounding exhaust, but I dont want to spend the money for exhaust system thats not gonna give me any power gains. So I was thinking......... If I removed the resonator from the stock exhaust will it add some depth to the sound? and will I lose any hp/tq?
