Seems like if you put some basic mods on the IS350, you might get M3 times (4.8 0-60). Crazy.

If they sold the darn thing as a 6 speed, I'd be looking at one. Heck, if it was a 6 speed, it might do a 4.8 0-60.

With a 13.7 in the quarter... it's pretty much doing M3 times...

0-60 times can be highly variable and are not a very accurate measure of acceleration. The 1320 is, though.

Car and Driver is STUPID who the hell believes that crap. There is no way it does 0 to 60 in 5.1. If it is true it still doesnt matter becuz our cars are 10 times nicer and hav much more curb appeal than the steril looking IS. I would take my 05 ivory pearl coupe any day over any of those cars exterior wise

Did you guys like ignore my post or something? Lexus' own site says 0-60 in 5.6.

The Car and Driver website says 0-62.. not 60, 62 in 5.9 sec.

The car is 310 hp, 266 tq. I don't know the weight, but I'm sure it's over 3500 pounds. It might be possible.. but personally I think 5.1 qt mile 13.7 is ambitious. 5.6 sounds more realistic.

With the HP and curb weight that you specify, the C&D times seem about right, especially for an automatic tranny. I wonder what kind of rear axle ratio the IS has.

13.7@104 is impressive to me.
of course it probably wont be as dynamic and engaging as the G, but i dont doubt that itll make up for it (and then some) with luxury, comfort, quality, etc.

i wonder if when it comes out other people will be able to do those 104mph traps.

The order they are placed in is regarding how much advertising budget they alloted to the magazine. Their rankings mean NOTHING and usually their tests are so far bogus that they are worthless to even recognize.

Why do you think the 'Vette is the new namesake of Car and Driver Television?

5.1 to 60 is crazy. I think the IS did better than the GTO. I have no problem giving credit where it's due, but taking the IS' horsepower, torque and weight in consideration, those times are a little shaky. Didn't C&D get 5.6 for the G35 Coupe at one time?

C&D got 0-60 in 5.5 seconds for the 2003 G35 Coupe 6MT. I have trouble believing that the IS350 is that fast, especially with an AT. However, if it is, then Infiniti has some catch-up to play with the next-gen G35.

October's Motor Trend clocked the IS350 going 0-60 in 5.5 seconds, doing the quarter in 14.0@99.8mph.

Car & Driver always get faster times in their tests than the other magazines . . .

Exactly! The '05 G35 rev up engines should be the same if not a little quicker.

conditions such as temperature, humidity can really effect these stats. I believe C & D have no reason to lie about these numbers.
