Yep, even though this may be a short price spike (and by short I mean 3 months or so) the USA is finally finding out what it feels like to pay over $6 per gallon, which is the price Gas has been in most of Europe for the last few years.
When I left England 7 years ago (1998) gas was around $5 per gallon and it has slowly crept up to today's price of $6.47 cents equivalent.
And you wonder why they all drive small cars, filling up a suburban would cost you $200 !!.
When I first came to the US in 1998 gas was Under $1 and it was like christmas and my burthday all in one everytime I filled up, today at $3.09 in Greensboro, NC it is expensive but compared to most of the rest of the world it is still cheap!
By the way, those stations that were charging $6 in Atlanta yesterday, those owners should be made to pump the gas themselves and lick all the windshields clean whilst polishing my shoes, bastards....

That $6.07 is insane. there is no way the gas station owners can justify that price. They are using the situation to profit, which is fine, profit is the key here, however there has to be some type of limit to how high u can raise those prices.
I have 1994 sentra 2 door. It gets me about 35 to the gallon.. that was supposed to be my winter beater but now it looks like its status has shifted to dailly driver. I am also gettin a bike for the summer (GSXR-1000) I dont plan on filling Bush or any Saudi pockets with my hard earned money!!!!!

That was taken in Atlanta, as someone else said... it was crazy here yesterday. Rumors started that gas was running out, there would be no more, etc, etc... so everyone ran out to fill up gas. Which did cause it to run out. Bunch of ****ing morons. Some stations raised the price -- why not? morons will pay it when there will be more gas tomorrow. It varies from $2.89 to $6. Bunch of retards around here, causing traffic by waiting in lines for gas. For no reason! argh.

I think our problem of why the corporations continued to rape us is that we let them.
We talk ****. we complain and moan. but in the end we take it
face it. we, as a society are the oil companies bitches.
we adjust to the higher gas prices. and once we become "used" to the abuse
what gives them any incentive to make it any less than it was before.
we just have to look at the current administration and corruption at any level.
We will talk about it. complain but in the end thats what this generation is.
Talkers.
lol to be rather cliche. like fight club said.. this generation has no great war.
so we're kind of in decline. we're sitting pretty at the top and we're getting careless.
I think we'll bitch and moan but I doubt a whole lot is gonna happen about the 3 - 5 dollar a gallon gas range because no one wants to make that effort or we don't know what we can do (myself included).
We as consumers have options to vote with our wallets...
kind of impractical most places because we have to get places to make that cash
to vote for to begin with.
Oil companies have enough money to shut out alternative fuel.
Honestly. if internet companies and big tobacco can manipulate and put off changes
in congress so easily. What makes you think Oil can't keep down hydrogen, bio-diesel or any other practical alternatives to oil dependence? Their money makes big tobacco look like a mom and pop shop.
hybrids are just a half-assed temporary solution because we're shifting the pollution to batteries that are gonna have to be replaced.
so we can't vote for our wallets... we can't be bothered vote and be educated at the elections..(look at the turnouts)
what are we to do... oh yeah. bitch and complain on these forums.

GonSpeed ... that's a good question to be asking these days.
Straight from Exxonmobil.com and check out their 2004 annual report. They made $25 BILLION dollars in net income last year. Assume that number is going up 30-40% this year. That's profit, mind you, not just revenue. I bet this year they are clearing approximately one billion dollars every 10 days or so.
Yeah, they're making money ...
