How many are retiring their G35 coupes?

You _CAN_ choose to use less gas if you want. You can buy a more efficient car or you can change your driving patterns. Carpool, public transport, less elective trips out, combining trips etc. I'm not saying people _will_ do that - just that they can.
I, for one, am choosing to change. Why? it's not really a money issue, it's a principle issue. Gas companies are getting rich because people aren't cutting back. It hurts the lower end of the income levels more than the higher end and that sucks. I want to see prices under $2 again (or close) - the only way we'll get there is if we consume less.
Yeah, it's probably totally pointless. Oh well.

Gonna get uglier before it gets better. All ship traffic on the Mississippi river has ceased. All of the refineries are going to shut down if they can't get the oil to refine. Even when they get traffic moving there are several major refineries directly in New Orleans that will be shut down for several months at least. We can get more oil from elsewhere into the us but if we can't refine it,we might as well not have it. I work on the river down in New Orleans-Baton Rouge area and we have a real mess down here. The navigation channel at the mouth of the Mississippi river is gone. A new one will have to be dug. I'm actually at work right now, staring at Exxon Baton Rouge, one of the largest if not the largest refinery in the world. The docks are empty.

yeah im buying a hybrid toyota prius. Yeah right I dont care how high the damn prices go Im still going to drive. If you can afford a 35K car you can afford a $45 tank of gas. Hey at least we still have gas or we arent going anywhere. Stop complaining there is nothing you can do about it. Just be glad we have gas.

The G is my gas miser too. I sold a V8 Tundra pickup to get the G because it had better fuel economy and fit in the garage. The truck didn't. Now we have a G sedan and a G coupe, and I don't think either is really better than the other on gas.
Even though gas prices are rising, it still might be better to keep the G than to sell it (especially if it is newer) and take a hit on the depriciation. Even if you lose $2000 on the value of the G by selling or trading it in, the $2000 will buy a lot of gas for the G.

Nah, I did the opposite: I bought a '99 Suburban 3/4 ton 4x4 turbo diesel for Home Depot hauling duty and to tow my boat. It has a 42 gallon tank, which at $3.00 a gallon for diesel costs $126 to fill. Fortunately it lasts about 2.5 to 3 weeks between fill ups, so its not too bad. Gets 17 MPG on the highway, so not much worse than the 21 MPG my G gets (the benefit of a diesel - gas suburbans get about 12 on the highway).
I've been commuting with my Z06 more - the 450hp economy car: I get 33 MPG on the highway with it.![Big Grin](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
But yeah, I'm retiring my G35 anyway - not because of gas prices, but because it just doesn't fit my needs anymore, and I've had too many tranny problems and rattle issues. As soon as I get my title from DMV, I'm putting it up for sale.

I am wondering why we dont use natural gas in the states to power our cars ?? A ton of people do that in europe, its half the price, yea you loose some power but for regular commute its fine, and you can always switch to petrol with a flick of a switch. The conversions are very inexpensive as well. If that was available in the states I would do it in a heart beat, you loose some space in the trunk for the bottle but its totally worth it.

My relatives are visiting from Brunei and they said premium unleaded is about $0.20 per litre which is about $.80 a gallon. Similar situation in iran, kuwait and other muslim countries!
Canada on the otherhand also produces and exports oil but the prices do not stay reasonable.
I am converting and moving!

and I believe its propane that runs in cars not natural gas.
Sure, if it was easy to find, it would be an option. It's just not though. Hybrid is a better choice - biodiesel is a good option as well.
I don't get why people think there is nothing we can do about. It's really basic supply vs. demand. There _IS_ something you can do about it.
