My G35c is our economical everyday driver, getting 23-24 mpg (as much as 27 if on the I). Our other car is an Infiniti QX-4, which gets 18-19 mpg.

i commute 9 minutes each way per day, it's about 2.75 miles, with occasional highway trips to CT, PA, LI, etc. however, that 2.75 miles involves no less than 10 stop signs and 7 traffic lights. not to mention, i drive my commute like i just robbed a bank. yea sure i could go easy on the pedal, but i'm the only person in my office that arrives with an ear-to-ear grin on

i average roughly 12mpg... so what is that, like 200 miles on a tank?

yeah, i'm in deep **** with these prices lol, i think my last tank was $3.49/gal for 93 octane... but that's the cost of driving a sports coupe in a suburban/semi-urban environment, and i wouldn't trade her for a high mpg econobox if you gave me all the gasoline in NY.
she puts a smile on my face every time i drop my right foot.

I guess, I'm pretty lucky...I live and work in downtown Vancouver, so it's 15 minute walk to work...and I don'tenvy all those drivers that I see stuck in traffic every day when I walk to work...the G is a pleasure to drive on the weekends though...

Hi,
Yes its takes a lot of GAS. But no one buys a sports car for fuel efficiency
If fuel economy is big concern, then one has to look at other options. This is a fun ride car. My wife drives a Honda accord and I drive a VW passat for work. Both which gives 30 MPG and have owned them for 5 years and is very practical. I just ordered a G35 coupe which will be our fun car.

given today's society, i highly doubt they can afford it - most are living paycheck to paycheck with debt out the wazoo.

I already retired my G - sold it about 3 weeks ago. Not because of gas prices, but because I didn't want to keep 2 sports cars and an SUV. I bought a used diesel Suburban so I can haul stuff back from Home Depot as I fix up my house, and so I can tow my boat anywhere I want to. Oh, and get to and from work in the snow without any worries. So, it was a change in my life (moving from CA to NY, and buying a house that needs work) that led to different requirements from my vehicles that led me to sell the G35 - not gas prices.

As much as it sucks paying more for gas, it wasn't financially killing me. Although the G's gas mileage does suck for the size of the car and engine. I get much better mileage in my Z06 with a much larger engine and 170 more hp.

If you think $50 fillups are bad, try the $120 of diesel it takes to fill my Suburban's 42 gallon tank! The only good news is a tank lasts about 650 miles, so I don't have to fill it too often. I'm averaging 15MPG in the Suburban, and 17 on the highway. Not much worse than the 21 I averaged with the G, and not bad for a nearly 7,000 lb. brick. I should be able to squeeze 1 or 2 additional MPG's when I upgrade the exhaust.

Trade Study

You need to do a trade study to figure what is the best option for you. But I can't imagine buying another car, insuring two cars, and still putting gas in the "beater" car is cost effective. Drive your G until Arabia is dry.

C'mon! 40k car and you can't afford gas? I feel for the people that can only afford inexpensive used cars that have to drive everywhere. I say everyone boycott Starbuck's. Pass on the coffee and drive your G more often WOT WOT WOT WOT WOT!!! I dont care what the gas price is, and I drive 20k a year. Make small sacrafices and you can easily make up the difference in gas prices IMO. Or do like others said an ride a bike one day a week stuff like that, bitching will get you nowhere. How about investing in the oil companies, anyone follow their stock numbers?

Peace...
