Is it just me or is Infiniti going backwards on the G35?

I'm sorry but,the lack of Brembos is one thing, the 19's have nowhere nearthe elegance that the 18's had, and now it's common knowledge that the engien doesn't have the rumble that the exhaust of the 03-05 had. Now don't get me wrong I'm all for progress butt, many of us never bit the bullet on a 330CI because it seemed evident after a while that it was turning into more of a poser car than anything resembling a sports car (not that the G35 is one). The G35 with 280h.p. on tap (03-04 models), seemed like a great alternative to a 330CI, however, out of the box it had more than one problem that many of us wanted to see resolved before taking the plunge (according to current owners, less than classy exterior, no 6-way power seats, etc.). However, now with the 06's with the funky taillights and rather odd 19's, no Brembos, loss of low-end torque, heavier car, etc., seems like they're taking a step backwards instead of going forward. Think I'll be taking the plunge on a low mileage 04' by year-end. Anyone else feel the same?

most people aren't even going to notice the changes on the 06... although some changes may beem like going backwards but most of it is going in the right direction... the interior is improved, bluetooth technology now available, rear active steering, projectors, etc... and the exterior changes (19s, tailights, headlights, etc) are mostly subjective... i like the 19s but not too keen on the new 06 sport front and rear lights...

but they need to do something to keep up with the competition...

In the end though the G is a "luxury" sports coupe. The addition of projectors, bluetooth, memory seats is an addition to the luxury part. The fact they added 18 new HP, and the new sports suspension in 2005 is more of the sports part of the coupe.

Personally I love the G's balance of both. If I was looking for one or the other I'd be driving a Lexus sedan or an STI.

They should have released a G45 - and on it, bring the Brembos back, make the front bumper and side skits more aggressive, true mounted fogs, some wider tires/ rims, carbon fiber drive shaft- make it limited production. Still keeping the 05 interior upgrades but w/o the extra frills. It wouldn't have cost much more to that.

extra frills sell cars and are needed to be competitive + this is a GT car, the frills are ok.

Does it really matter what changes they have for 06??? Because you know no matter what factory stuff they put on you will put after market stuff on it. Also I don't see any difference between the 05 and 06 rims, they look the same to me. Projector lights true is nice but my 05 stock is bright enough. Tail Light I think is out of place on the 06, square reverse light eww. Front spoiler, not as nice but who cares one will change the bumper anyways. Rear wing, I like my iron board more. Bluetooth, nice toys but i rather have infiniti fix the stupid headunit problem and speakers then adding these toys first. For a luxury car they have the crapiest speakers. memory seat that is a nice thing to have at least for me cuz sometimes my dad backs my car and he is much shorter then me and he never puts back to the position i like it.

Instead of the bluetooth and keyless entry how about auto reverse side mirrors so it makes it easier to parallel park. I always have to adjust the mirror manually to make sure i don't hit the curb. So rather then adding new toys I think infiniti should have used some common sense to improve on the stuff. Also that damn clicking noise on the axle time to invest in a new axel (although I don't have that problem I feel the pain that others that have it).

The 19's they have are actually some of the best 19's out there... I think Infiniti is doing fine, but I still do like my brembos.

yeah I was thinking though that the frills could be in the G35 and in the spotier version exclude the frills other than the current semi luxury components. That way they could keep cost down since this seems to be their goal in the G lineup.

I see nothing wrong with the 19’s, I think they are awesome, and probably some of the best factory rims youre going to get out there in terms of styling, weight, and quality. Why does it have to be a loss of low end torque and not an increase in high end power? Why are the Brembo’s such a necessity? They were extremely problematic, wore out too fast, had too much dust, and were expensive to replace when the stockers now stop in shorter distance than the Brembo’s did? Will you be driving the car competitively? If not then the stockers are better for the street than the Brembos.

G35 Coupe
This is exactly what i mentioned in the other forums and i kno exactly what i mean. Seriously right now it looks like the 2004 G with Brembos is going to hold its value very very well.

Maybe I'm biased, but I'd rather have lightweight forged 19's, and the sports tuned suspension than just the brembos and 18's.

The stock brakes work just fine. If you all are just wanting them for looks.. I'm fine where I am. Plus, I can always upgrade the pads and calipers.

Edit: And for more performance get slotted rotors.
