I dont know if this is a newbie question but I looked at my engine and seen a black tube just like that, it also had z on it. Is that the same tube and if so, does it come stock with 05?

The G-tube has resonators on it (those are the boxes on the tube). They are there to essentially reduce the sound. While the holes for the boxes are small, they do quiet the intake noise a bit and reduce power a bit. Granted the changes are pretty minor, but for a simple mod (with a K&N or JWT Popcharger), it's a pretty good bang for the buck.

Installing the Z-tube is one of the easy DIY for our cars....you can get a K&N drop in filter, JWT popcharger, or Stillen CAI (those are the three most popular ztube combos) to go with your new ztube to increase performance, but you dont have too and can leave your stock box.....
