concerned about rev limiter
I own an 05 g35 coupe AT and what happened is that i accidently hit the shifter lever with my hand and it bumped it over into manual mode while i was in the process of getting on the throttle pretty hard. It then went to the rev limiter and i couldnt figure out why it wouldnt upshift until it had been at the rev limiter for about a full 3 seconds. I really dont drive my car hard and you could probably count on one hand the number of times that i have really got on the throttle. I am wondering do i have something to worry about or is my engine ok? I dont know much about the g35 engine, so can someone give me some feedback. i know what happened isnt necessarily good for the engine but do i have anything to worry about? like future problems or if i damaged anything. It sounds and runs fine but i still would like someone elses opinion. Thank you very much for any feedback.

the rev limiter is a SW controled number. The ECU sets the limit to a range that is below what the engine can handle. This is why people have their rev limiter removed or moved up, because the engine can handle more.
Technically you can bouce off your limiter everyday and not have any problems. If you drive a MT car and improperly shift into 1st gear instead of say 5 then you'll Mechnically over-rev your car and blow your engine. This is commonly referred to as the "Money Shift" because it's going to cost you a lot of money for that 1 shift.
