F1 (Formula one) are normally aspirated engines. They used turbo in late 70's.

i tend to disagree with you when u say SC's are safer on the motor. The one thing i like more about turbo's are they they dont really work unless you get on the throttle. With SC's they are always pumping air into th motor even at low rpm when turbos you have to rev it a little to get the turbo to start to go.

?? does this guy have a clue??

FI - stands for forced induction. typically a car with a supercharger or a turbo charger, or even Nitrous is considered FI. This has nothing to do with F1 racing or Michael Schumacher!!

Unless I am in boost, I don't think Im pumping anymore air than normal. I have normal a/f ratios when out of boost. Just driving regularly, I hear the BOV releasing a chit load of air...which makes a cool pssssssssssssssssssst sound. You are right in the sense that the S/C is always working though b/c its belt driven by the crank. So...its always spinning but not necessarily pumping air in.

I believe with a S/C you can still drive while not being under 'boost'. I think I read that with the vortech, the car feels NA until you hit 3500 or 4500 RPM. So although you are correct in stating s/c's pump air in the motor, just like a turbo if your constantly driving the car no higher than 3k RPM, I dont think your really degrading the internals or the motor...

How much does the TE37 weigh? Also, can you describe the feeling? I'm going to get lighter 17" rims too, 5zigen FN01R-C, they weigh around 17lb.

Also, there was recently a comparison between JWT TT, Greddy TT, Vortech, and Stillen. In 1/4 mile, the Vortech is actually the fastest due to better traction. TT put too much torque down low.

Yeah...Neff and I did it together at CP Raceing. I was about 7k for vortech, gauges, install, tranny cooler, crawford h/f cats, oil catch can, colder spark plugs, oil, extra Nissan tranny fluid and gates 3.12 belt . My AT holds up fine. I drive it MM mode 99% of the time. Downshifting is slow, but I think its an 05 thing. I can always get a valve body upgrade...i just wish SGP's new one wasn't $1200 bucks.

The Vortech is fun to drive...obviously not as fun as a Turbo, but since this is my first FI car, I figured the Vortech would do. I did upgrade to the 3.12 from the get go. (Stock is the 3.33 pulley). Some have even gone to the 2.87 pulley but I , nor Vortech, recommend that. It's quite an expense but, damn, the car is fun to drive...even for an AT. Well..not to hijack the thread...but...if you have questions about anything...PM me anytime.

roughly 15 lbs each.... the acceleration off the line is much faster compared to the heavy stock 18inch wheels (i haven't timed it yet but driving in the same areas to work at the same speeds i can vouch that i've increased some acceleration) and braking is a little more responsive, you'll noticed a huge difference with lighter wheels... i can't say much about the cornering aspects since i have "R" compound Toyo Proxies RA1 (its kinda cheating) which I am currently trying to break in.... but i can only be sure at this sunday's autocross

That's great to hear. I'm not sure if what I heard is correct, but 1lb of unsprung weight is = 10lb of sprung weight. So, since our 18" are around 25lb, you saved 40 lb unsprung weight, which mean it's equivalent to 400lb off the car. For my case, it'll be around 32lb unsprung weight.
With the lighter rims, does your car feel more nimble?

But nevertheless 400 WHP is almost a good 1.5x that of stock. for most people thats more than enough.
Someone on MY350z has high 400's with a supercharger... If I remember correctly it was 478whp. Another person had 500+ with his intercooler spray aparatus on. It is possible to get high horsepower out of the Vortech, yes, you won't get as much as a turbo... but what are you going to do with over 450 anyway? I actually don't know what I would even do with 400.

can you control boost and adjust the a/f ratio with the vortech?
