Rattle from the steering wheel area!

Ahhh, this is driving me nuts. I have a 2005 and whenever I am on the highway going over some minor bumps, the steering wheel area, shakes and makes this audible vibration/rumble. How can I fix that? Already tried to move the steering wheel to a different position.

Other than that, everything seems fine (knocks on wood).

Thanks!

happened to me. right when i noticed it was getting really obnoxious, my tire pressure warning light came on. i was at around 26psi on a cold morning, way too low. after inflating them to 35, most of the body noises went away. my theory is that the tires weren't doing their fair share of shock and vibration damping when under-inflated.

the noise

The noise is te clock in the center console, just wedge a piese of paper, or lubricate the hood piece on top of the quartz clock, thats what make the noise.

If it is the clock area, there is a TSB on it:

That pretty much sums it up.

thank you very much my good man... i took my car to the dealership several months ago with those complaints. i was told that the noises were inherrent in a car with a rigid chassis and stiff suspension.

Your welcome Luckily for me, I have no rattles to complain about *knocks on wood*. The only thing that other people have problems with that I too have problems is the stupid Head Unit. The Treble resets itself after you turn off the ignition. It will go back to where you set it only when you either increase or decrease the treble. Oh well, I will get rid of it soon enough!

hmmm, i don't think it is the clock area, although i "sometimes" get a squeak. but the steering wheel column shakes. maybe i'll just take in to the dealer.

on the side note, my treble/bass does not reset itself wonder if that is a problem with the earlier 05's...

I got my car in late July so this really doesn't qualify as an earlier 05

Most likely it is due to the wires inside the door panel. Take it apart and secure the wires inside and also Dynamt it and that will reduce vibration. You'll get rid of the noise AND make it quieter. I will do the same once I get all my audio gear in order. I just haven't heard any rattles from it *knocks on wood*
