If something were to happen to me, I have 3 kids (2 in college) and 4 mortgages . . . I think I will fair better than an M.

Quote: I am in total agreement with you on this one. If during an evasive manuver, you happened to pop the clutch and it got stuck . . . You are essentially $hit out of luck.
Agreed. If an 18 wheeler is barreling toward you, I'm not sure how many people will be able to calmly 'feather' the clutch. Most will be in a state of panic and romp on it. I call it the SOL clutch.

Good LORD, no!

I know some of the seriousness of this thread may have diminished. However, if I were in an situation where I were required to spped up and get out . . . I would cringe to think what might happen if I were to upshift and pop the clutch at an inopportune time. This definitely result in less than desireable results, if not potentially deadly.

if the clutch would just enguage with VDC off.. depending on what gear u might just end up in that 18 wheeler.. theres no point in needing more power.. your first thought should be to just move outta the way

My 05' 6M did the exact thing. Reved it to 3K and dropped the clutch. Revs hit the limiter and the clutch smoked. Dealer couldn't find a problem but the car shudders a little during normal take offs. Dealer claims not to know of any problems.
