Yes, it's true! It's coming out this year in December, and my dealer told me they are taking orders for it in September. It's a sedan though. If you are looking for a 4WD coupe, too bad, the line starts back there. If you are looking for a 4WD sedan, better call your dealer soon also.

full time AWD is just that, four wheels getting poser ALL the time.
in the other case, when the car senses the non-powered wheels are slipping, or need the power, then some power is transferred there.
bmw, audi, volvo all have it.
is good for certain performance activities but big help in snow (and big selling point to people scared of bad weather).
bmw sells a bunch of them, not for performance, but for those scared of bad weather. however, they also sell performance package which is a non-winter tire. many bmw owners don't know that it is not all season, then complain about car. with bmw, if you buy AWD or winter package, they sub all year tires for the perf tires.

are you sure it's awd not 4wd??
the m35 stagea (g35s station wagon) as well as the v35 skyline sedan-4 both have a 4wd system in japan... the transmission utilizes the infamous attessa-ets system from the not-so-distant GTR family. I doubt nissan would shell out a few million bones for an AWD system just to debut here in the states... I highly wish though, that nissan would bring the ATTESSA-ets system, and I think that dream will one day come true (g35x = m35 stagea).

I was pretty sure 4WD referred only to the part-time systems used in offroad trucks. AWD is used for full-time systems in trucks, cars, minivans, etc.

Part time is one version of 4wd nor recomened using it on the flat streets for a long time forgot why. There there is auto 4wd. The 4wd activates when you need it. There there is full time 4wd where it working at all times but you can choose its level like low, medium and high. But I really dont get the differences between full time 4wd and awd.

4WD traditionally means that all four wheels are getting an even amount of power (25% to each wheel). This is a great system for snow/ice traction, but it puts a lot of stress on the vehicle on dry roads, when going fast, making turns, etc. AWD puts power to all four wheels, but usually the power is not evenly distributed and the power is adjusted automatically. This makes the car much more comfortable on dry roads while still offering most of the snow/ice traction that traditional 4WD offers. Most SUV's use AWD systems now anyways...they still call it 4WD, but usually it's AWD!!
