M/T rattling shift ****

Ever since I got my tranny replaced my nismo shift **** rattles at high rpms (sounds like a rattlesnake). Does anyone have a fix for this?

Mine has done the same since I had the tranny replaced. I have the stock shift ****, it doesnt rattle itself but you can hear the whole shifter rattling at high rpms. VERY annoying, I even took it back in and told them to get it right. After tightening the bolts that attach it the noise went down some, but its still there.

When I installed my Rogue shifter, I as well as others had the same rattle. I would reco taking the shift **** off, try to remove the metal ring that will probably be stuck inside. Be sure to note placement. There is a champered edge that should sit flush with the stick. Place the ring on the stick and tighten the shiat out of the shifter ****. When you think you have it snug, give it another twist! For the Nismo *****, I am assuming you can use one of those safety strap wrenches so you dont damage the shift ****. For stock *****, grab a towel and an adjustable wrench and you can probably get one more turn or after you hand tighten it. The towel will prevent you from damaging the ****. DO NOT USE A WRENCH WITH TEETH!!!!!!! Use an adjustable with a fairly long handle (8" or so). Rattles will be no more!

Believe it or not, most of the rattling is caused by people that install there own shifter and over tighten the shifter fork. When that happens, it bend the shifter fork and now your linkage is not centered. I noticed on some aftermarket shifters the clearance was to big, and they needed to be shimmed.

Same problem here. I've had it in twice, first time no help and second time only reduced the rattle.

Mine works perfectly with the SS THX shift ****. I tightened it big time but made sure the shaft did not turn at all while doing it.

So if you overtighten the shifter fork and uncenter the linkage, how hard/expensive is that to fix? Can you just loosen the ****?
