How to remove Nav compartment door?
Hi,
I have a 03 coupe with no navigation system. There is a compartment where the stock navigation display belongs. How do you remove that compartment's door? I bought a Streetpilot III and its a perfect fit if I can remove that flip up door.

You mean the storage cubby hole in your dash? There are two "clips" on both sides. Just angle it and use some force to push the other side out. If you look closely you should be able to see how the end is in there. It shoudl be pretty easy for you to remove.

The cubby hole you are talking about, is it the one right below the clock. Thats the one I am talking about. Now which way do I angle it? Do I lift straight up, or pull it towards myself.
It tried but it didn't come off, I didn't want to use too much force.
Is it really snug?

Yeah we're talking about the same one. You have to take off one side at a time. For example, take off the right side first, and use some force holding the compartment and force left so the right side pops out. Just be careful to not break the side that holds it in. Its in there pretty tight.
Cubby Hole
Sorry, but I tried and tried and tried with all my might, it wouldn't pop out.
I tried one side and a time. Pushed the door towards the left to free the right, just wouldn't do it. Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to remove anything first?

Really? My whole dash was apart anyways because of the DigitalWheelz touchscreen install however right now, if I want to take it out, I just snap it off. Perhaps Kyosho is correct but before I would go ripping out the dash I would try a little harder at what I mentioned. Maybe even use some tool to give you some leverage to create room from the cover and the dash. Good luck Tim

I love that little purple hippo. Where did you find it?
Maybe if I can understand how the door work, it may be easier for me to take the door out. So the door has two **** like things, one on each side. These ***** go into the holes inside the compartment (on the dash). Right?
So my goal is to pop ***** off of the hole, one side at a time?
Also what year is yours? Mine is 03. I know that the 04+ models have a different looking dash.
