My G35C went crazy on me this morning
My G35C went crazy on me this morning
Weirdest thing ever, I got out of the car to get my morning bagel & coffee, when I returned and tried to start the car it began buzzing (I swear it was exactly like the sound of an analog modem) and the key would not turn.
I tried a few times, the sound continued, the car auto locked itself, I unlocked using the remote, and the car finally started.
Anyone have any idea what was going on, I am trying to ask service but they seem to have no idea what the sound was.

Ignored it (per dealer suggestion) and it hasn't come back, I always keep my valet key handy just incase it happens again now though.
Dealer says may just of been a communication of some sort in the car that I heard, and more than likely the key just lost it's sync with the ignition (the security chip I guess). They said if it happens again then I should bring it in because it was a repeat occurence, but until then ......

LOL, no it's a conspiracy. Infiniti is tracking every move we make. They know everything we are doing in our g35c. Why do you think the navi is so smart and has so many hidden secrets. You must strip your car down and take out any weird devices. Rid yourself of the evil navi system "BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU"..
Jk just reminded me of 1984. I had to do a report on that. the navi system does scare me sometime. It has a satelite connection right? thats why theres a satalite on the map, I don't understand why it needs a cd then?

That is a little confusing to me too. My guess is that the satellites send location signals to the receiver in our cars to then look in the right area on the CD which is then displayed. (Provided the CD has that info). If you learn any more about this please share.
There's some truth in your BIG BROTHER analogy: Eventually our NAVI's will be a main communication linc in all cars and not an expensive option in such cars as ours...FFT

You are close...
The GPS (Global Positioning System) is a passive system. That means it does not transmit anything out.
1. The GPS receiver in the G35 Gets Signals from each satttelite (there are three)
2. Using Those Three Sattelites the GPS Triangulates (Determines where it is) position based on timing of signals
3. The Computer then takes its current position and direction reads the DVD map to compare and estimates current street location.
The OnStar system (not in our cars) does the first 2 then sends your location and all other current car information to OnStar (Now that is Big Brother)
<a href="http://www.trimble.com/gps/how.html">Here is a link </a>with more info on how GPS works
By The Way - what happened was the security chip did not register correctly with the car when I tried to start it, then the car disabled the ignition for about 30 seconds to a minute.
I still have no idea what the sound was. Like everyone says these things have alot of CPU processes going on inside.

it uses a DVD that contains all of the maps, roads and voice data in all of north america, the satelites just "track" you to a certain latitude/longitude value of where you are on earth, and then computer puts it all together and displays it on the screen. thats why you need the dvd/cd because it contains all of the maps

Thanks for the heads up on the Navi. Interesting stuff. One querry tho: are you sure that there aren't more than 3 sattelites out there? On my Lowrance GPS I see about 15 to 20 on the screan sometimes. Or does the G's Navi monitor different satellites? It does say onscrean that it needs 3 sats. to give elevation.
Thanks for the link to GPS, I'll get into that soon.
Did the issue with the ignition key clear itself, or did you have the key reprogarmmed?.......Thanks again...
