3-Week storage of brand new G35, what to do

Ok so I bought the car last weekend, has 450 miles on it now, but do to business I'll be leaving for 2.5 weeks. I plan on leaving it in my garage but won't be driving/starting it. What should I do to prep for this? And importantly what should I do when I get back to start it?

I'd hire a car sitter for this time. Have them start it every 8 hours and drive it at 25 mph till the engine gets warm. It night, it should be covered with a heated blanket. You don't want the G getting cold. I would then wash and wax it when you get back so it dosn't feel so neglected!

Hi:

I am no expert, but it seems to me that lots of new cars sit on dealers lots for more than 3 weeks at a time. If you do not have LoJack, disconnect the ground terminal from your battery. If you have LoJack, do Not do this. If you are the least bit concerned about theft, leave the battery connected as the G35 comes with some sort of protection against full battery dischage. If appropriate pull the plug on your garage door opener and padlock it shut!

I doubt that this is necessary, but when you return, you can put your car in low gear and rock it back and forth by hand to loosen up the piston rings.

Some people recommend adding STABIL to your gas, but I have not found this necessary for such relatively short periods.

If you are going to have somebody start up your car while you are gone, tell them not to idle it much. Ideling a cold car to warm is a sure way to get contaminants in to your oil.

Yeah, 3 weeks is nothing....

Like others have said-- lotsa cars sit on dealers lots for much longer than 3 weeks without being touched. Although probably not many G's get a rest like that!

But you have nothing to worry about..... In 3 weeks, put in the key, start it up, and drive away.

There's no need to do anything for a 3 week sit. If it were 3 MONTHS, then maybe you would want to disconnect the battery, but even then its not necessary.

I went to Hawaii for a week and a half. I just left my G in my garage, came back and it was there no problems. Washed it the next day and was on my way. I imagine 2 weeks is nothing as well man. Just leave it be.

Why haven't you driven your car in 5 weeks G35inKC???

I'm usually in HKG/China on business a few times a year for up to 5 weeks. Don't worry, Coupie will be just fine. Hopefully she's garaged...the only thing I ever do is pump up the tire pressure to around 40 psi....leave and get on the plane.

the only thing i could suggest is putting more into the tires so they dont flatten on one angle, cuz thats what they do when they are shipped here from japan and then the air is lowered again.
