I have no problem driving my S4 in snow with summer tires. AWD makes all the difference in the world! If you have the money get an S4 you won't regret it.

LOL. You obviously don't have to drive on hills. I would love to see you drive down the country roads near me with your S4 with summer tires in more than 3" of snow.

jetblackg35 - The problem is that most of those who drive Audis with quattro believe that AWD somehow helps them when driving down hills. They have to learn that lesson from the school of hard knocks. That's why you see them coming in on flat beds.

Driven it many of times on country roads in ohio with 3 + inches of snow on the road. I had no problems getting around. You just have to be careful around turns! I'll take AWD with summer tires over RWD with winter tires anyday.

It wont matter if you have a AWD S4 if you drive on summer rubber in the winter it will still suck. Put on some good winter tires on the G and you wont have ANY issues.

We just got our first snowfall of the year up here in New England yesterday. I had my 19" OEM wheels w/ Bridgestone Potenza RE050A's on the car figuring I would change them yesterday morning. Well, I left the car in the driveway instead of putting it in the garage. The stock rubber barely, and I mean barely, got the car up my sloped (6-8%) driveway and into the garage. I put my 17" stockers w/GY Eagle RSA's on and that alone made a world of difference. I was able to drive around yesterday in 3" of snow with no problems. Well, this morning I drove down to Town Fair Tire and had a set of Hankook Icebar W300 performance winter tires installed on the 17's. All I can say is WOW! What a difference a tire can make!!! I can go through anything now with no problems. These things are great! I put about 100 miles on them this morning and they are quiet, smooth and the traction is excellent. Performance on a dry highway was better than I expected from a snow tire. Tires DO make a world of a difference!! Thumbs up to the Hankook's.

I wish you lived closer to me because I would offer you a challenge. I notice you are in Va and I'm in Monkton, MD. From my house to the town of Monkton is about a two and a half mile trip, and it's all downhill. I'd pay you a $100 if you can make it down the hill covered with a minimum of 3" of snow in your S4 with summer tires without sliding off the road. All I ask is that you go a minimum of 15 MPH down the hill. The speed limit is 25 MPH.

Since we live so far apart, I don't expect you to take that challenge. So here's another one. Help me understand how quattro helps you when going down steep hills? Low profile summer tires will give you almost no traction.

So I got my 17" winter wheels put on today, and you guys were right.. it made a huge difference... more importantly, they don't look as bad as I had expected... if anyone has interest, I can post some pictures.

It snowed about 3-4" between driving to work and back home. I currently have the 19" summers on, and 18s and snows by Monday. Like other new G35 owners, I hope it makes a difference. Today, for a brief second, I missed my old '88 GMC 4WD pickup! My G Coupe (w/ 19" summers) still handles better than my old man's Lincoln Mark VII w/ Blizzaks! Let it snow, let it snow, let is snow...

I never said quattro helps me when going down hill. I just said I get around fine in my S4 with summer tires in Ohio on country roads. You can believe it or not I don't really care. Buy an S4 drive it down your hill and let me know how you fair until then you really don't have room to talk.

I love the S4! However the difference in price is ridiculous... just get some blizzacks 900 bucks.

LOL I use to own an S4. On all season tires I use to slide around in the snow because the tires were so wide.
