First snow storm with my G... Might need an S4...

So it snowed alot last night, and I don't have my snowtires on yet, that's hapening tomorow. Driving today was brutal (granted, i do have my summer tires on still) I couldn't drive with VDC on, it wouldn't let me go past about 1500rpm. Does anyone else who lives in an area that gets lots of snow think that I will feel differently once I get my snows on? If now, what do you guys (and girls) think about the Audi S4. I've driven them before, and although they're not as much fun as the G, it would probably make a lot more sense. Let me know what you think.

The coupe with snows is very good to drive, but with the summer rubber on is awful.
g/l with getting them on soon.

An S4 not as fun as a G35? Really? I mean... even the older TT versions can romp on us with a $300 (or less) chip.

Anyways, get some dunlop M3's or blizzaks and have a blast. I put mine on last week, and drove through a couple nights of ice and 12" of snowfall. It handled it just fine. I know what you mean about the factory tires being crap in the snow.

S4 is not a good car in the winter either, i know it has AWD but they still suck in the winter. My buddy has one and gets stuck all of the time. If you have the extra money to trade your G in and get a S4 you might as well just get a winter car like an older lexus(that is what I did).

my sister owns an '05 s4 and it also comes standard with summer tires (that baby ain't going anywhere without snows). she put on her winter's the same time i did. s4 not being fun to drive? i'd trade my car for hers in a heartbeat... and then some. unfortunately she's not stupid ... so i'll have to keep mine for a while yet

It's all about the driver. I had a WRX for two winters with snow tires on, no problems what so ever. Had too much fun doing snow nuts and 4wd drifts too.

Your friend must've been going to fast. Just remember, AWD doesn't help you stop any better, you just have more grip for handling and acceleration.

ehh the car is very heavy compared to the G even though its a 4 door.. i bet our G handles way better and i'd say its more fun to drive than the s4 because of that. put summer tires and 19 inch wheels on any car and it'll do horrible in the snow.. just get some 17s-18's and some snow tires and you'll be fine.

Can't wait to get my snows as well, worked from home today since it was pretty nasty. On one small drive that I did go out, I swear it ain't happening again on the factory tires.

It was a real bad idea to drive in the snow with your summer performance tires on. Once you get your winter's on, you won't believe the diff

Let's think this one through. Should I pay $900 for a wheel/snow tire package from TireRack or $50K for an S4 with all season tires? That's a tough one but the $900 option sounds like the better choice to me. My driveway is around 200' long and probably has less than a 5% grade. Without snow tires I could get my M3 about 20' up my driveway before it began slidding in about 2" of snow. With snows I had about the same traction as a FWD car with all seaon tires.
