can advise on this....do you think it would be effective or smart to ONLY use snows on my rear rims? any major problems you can think of that might arise? would it help traction...i have the stock 18's for the coups and the front tires are mint...rears are shot should i replace with snows and leav emy fronts stock?? im in NY by the way.

I wouldn't recommend this. Although traction will be acceptable, braking and steering will be unacceptable with any amount of snow on the ground.

You have a relatively expensive car; don't be cheap with your tires.

Not the best setup man. Braking and handling on the front is just as important as the rear, and having only one end with snows causes too much difference in handling .

I'm with these guys. It's NEVER a good idea to have different tires front and rear. It's even worse to have different tires AND different TYPES of tires. You'd be asking for trouble.

i double agree with these guys.. specially u live in ny.. i live in ny and u know as well as i know that they dont clean these streets very good...

Having driven in the snow for three winters now, going on the fourth, I've experienced more problems with understeer than oversteer. Snow on all fours dude!

Don't do it. No one recommends snows on back and regular tires on front. Snows all around or park it. I just park it and drive the beater (96 Ford Exploder)

As all of the above, I too agree that it is a great idea to have snows on all 4 wheels, but no major problems will occur if you don't have snows on any of the wheels or just two. You shouldn't mix and match, but if you do, keep in mind while driving that your tires are mixed and you should drive accordingly and more carefully. The person I bought my winter setup from said, that he started with only the rear snow tires, but decided to buy the fronts also after experiencing poor braking. So it's up to you, having just rears will improve mobility, but will not help in braking and steering. Good luck and drive safe.
