was looking at the intake looks like the o6 doesnt need the z tube looks like its got a straight run into intake, let me know if im just retarded or if im right. thanks guys

 

The Z Tube is completely ROUND from the stock air/filter housing box to the intake at the Throttle Body. Aside from the 2 baffles on the OEM tube . . . The vacuum hose is on the topside of the OEM and the Z Tube has the same located on the underside. Hope this helps.

I've never looked at the engine bay for an 06, but im assuming its all the same as the previous years. you might have got confused since they do quite look alike in a way.

 

I just checked, nothing has changed to the '06 intake. Same as always.

 

i just installed a z tube in my 06 coupe a few weeks ago, and the 06 intake tube looks exacly like the one in GEE35X's pics.

 

What's the benefit of the Z tube? Sound? Performance? Can you tell any difference and was it worth it?

It's done for sound mainly, it gives a nice growl from about 3,000 rpm and up. They say it adds a couple of HP, but you can't really notice anything by the seat of your pants.
Still worth it, a cheap and easy mod.

 

No. they do look similar, but not the same. Check out the pics of the Z-tube.....it's very smooth and the vent tube is on the bottom rather than the top.

I would say that the z tube is a plausable mod. When I looked at the stock intake tube interior the baffles were very small and it was very striaght through. The only difference I got was the sound, which is not all that noticable. Overall I would recommend trying a CAI.
