Ticket For windows???

About a half hour ago, i was going through a DUI check point and my windows were down and the cop asked me if i had tinted windows, and i just looked at him and shrugged my shoulders, so he told me to pull over to the side, and then the next cop asked me the same question, and i gave him the same response, and he asked me if i can roll them up, and i told him no, and then he said, do you have tinted windows again, and i finally fessed up becuase he said he would charge me for other things, so i said yes, and he asked if i can roll them up, but i still said no, well anyways to make a REALLY REALLY LOONG story short, he wrote me the ticket for windows, but he never say them, so if i were to contest this in court would i win?

Re: Ticket For windows???

That would be a hard one since you confessed that you did have tinted windows.

Dude where do you live... ? This DUI check point thing is totally new to me.. I live in Wahington State and I don't belive we have Big Brother check points.. At least I have never heard of one... that is like a bunch of crapola.. Keep your tint... screw them.. I have 20% and have never been hassled... they probably wanted to get close enough to smell your breath... and when they couldn't find nothing they went for some other form of revenue... dam states and their so called $ shortages... @#@%$&%$ bastages....

Re: Ticket For windows???

Seriously.. omfg, way to increase revenue, give bs tickets to innocent drivers.. I got pulled over by a motorcycle cop who was hiding behind a bush a week ago. When I asked, is this how you protect and serve the people like it says there in quotes on your bike? The officer couldn't answer the question.

Back on topic, I feel your pain Cool. I got tint tickets for my other car and there is just nothing to be done. Pull them off, get inspected, then step 3.. re-apply tint :P

You will not win in court since you admitted guilt to the officer who will use it against you if he does show up. I'd fight it anyway. Remember, he asked if your windows are tinted, but he didn't ask which onessssss... hehe

Nicely done my good man Wicked, its all about technicalities, also it came to my attention that on the ticket where you sign you are siging a thing that say "without admitting to guilt i promise to appear at the court" so that means i could just say i wanted to get out of there, and the only way they would let me go is if i said they were tinted ;-)

You must be from CA. Hey you are!! That happen to me in my RX-7 (1984). But I use to get pulled over monthly with that car. You really can't fight that ticket. Good thing it is just a fix it ticket. If you know a cop personally, they can right off those ticket for you. Otherwise you have to rip it off, get it verified that it has been fixed, and then go to the administration office and pay the administration fee. I heard if you go to the highway patrol office for inspection they will not charge you the inspection fee.

Re: Ticket For windows???

It sounds like you might get away with some technicalities. As people mentioned, you could say you admitted you had tinted windows in the back, but not the front .
These kinds of stories make me second guess myself about tinting my coupe. I'd hate to get stopped by a cop for anything and have him add an insult to the injury by ticketing me for tint. I just want a 35% tint. Does anyone have picks of 35% tint on a Diamond Graphite?

Re: Ticket For windows???

I would go into court and argue two things:

1.) The cop never saw the windows

2.) Since the intent of the checkpoints is to catch drunk drivers, I would argue that the officer never should have asked the question about your windows and had no probable cause to have you pull over in the first place. I also would state that the cop said that unless you answer his question(which you are under no obligation to answer) he would cite you for other stuff.

BTW don't friggen say anything to cops EVER! Its not necessary, its not required by law, and despite what you may think or what the cops may promise you, IT IS NOT IN YOUR BEST INTERESTS! EVER!

It seems bs that they give you a fix it at a DUI checkpoint.

You Have the Right to remain Silent.

Plea to the fifth dude. I think the cop is abusing his authority.

Hey though good luck and let us know how it goes.

Re: Ticket For windows???

Is your front window tinted also? Kind of hard to tell from the photos... What are the laws about tinting the front window anyway?

Re: Ticket For windows???

nah, the front is not tinted. For sure I would get pulled over by a cop. The law in california I believe is you are allowed to have tint in the rear and rear side windows only.
