CCFL clearance strips from the LCA575 groupbuy

I still have to install the lights on the car, hopefully I'll do that this weekend if I have time off work. Then I'll get more pics of up the lights, beam pattern, etc.

I'm powering the strip up with a 9V battery and 2 AA batteries. It's actually not as bright as it appears in the first pic. It's a bit bluish for my tastes, but it does a good job of lighting up the entire strip.

The extra two wires in the back are the + and - for the solenoid.

I'll make a new thread once everything is installed. I still have to finish up the wiring for the fog/high beam. But the headlights are pretty much 97% complete.

Just wanted to give people an idea of what they look like installed.

devil dog, good seeing you here. I still have the 91 Legend, still running well. I think it hit 90K recently. The G35's already at 33K miles.

The cost breakdown was roughly:
$200 TSX projectors
$300 TL bixenon projectors
$45 H4 harness to allow both high and fogs on at the same time
$30 purple tinted clear lenses for the TLs
$30 hidplanet shrouds for the TLs
shipping costs for CCFL strips and inverters (I loaned LCA575 the clearance strips)
$7 Home Depot acrylic lens for the clear reflector
about $30 worth of M4 nuts, bolts, washers, and various little things
about $300 for extra headlights, ballasts, wiring. I don't know exactly how much I spent here, because some of the extra lights were for other people. But I ended up with 5 extra ballasts, 4 sets of extra wiring harnesses, and a bunch of headlights.
about $40 for H4 and 9006 wiring connectors and 10ohm resistors for the solenoid

I already had other essential things, like a dremel set, polishing wheels, polishing compound, soldering iron.

Unfortunately I can't do any more retrofits for you guys. With this project taking 3 months already, I would have to quit my day job to do this more efficiently. One month was spent just making custom shields for the TSX projectors to increase sharpness. Another month spent just fitting clear lenses onto the TLs and mounting everything on the bracket.

I'm planning on installing everything this weekend. Then I'll reopen my current headlights with the X5 projectors, do some washer modding, lens modding, black out the housing, clear the turn signal with a reflector, and eventually sell that set. I really want to see what the beam pattern is going to be like with 4 clear lensed projectors going. I've set the aiming to match the stock aiming in terms of the low beam relative to the fog light.

How hard is it/ how much money is it to get those CCFL strips in the clearance strips? Im assuming it would be a lot less hassle/money to just replace the bulbs right?

Not much. The groupbuy is posted somewhere in the lighting forum.

The clearance strips is very easy to do. You don't have to worry about the aiming like you do the projectors.

I finished the soldering of the wires last night. Now I just need to seal the headlights and then put them on the car.
