cold airs are only good for dynoing, in the real world the design of our cars forces the air away from the front of our cars.

Re: why is my 1/4 e.t. slow?
Dude, 14.6 in an auto is very respectable, it's not "slow" unless you're comparing yourself to a Vette or an NSX. Are you sure 87 was the track temperature and not the ambient temp? The temperature would not make sense unless you were running after the sun went down, at around 8pm?

And yes your 19's are not light and will not help you accelarate faster, whoever says that is lying to themselves.

When did you go to the track? I'll join you next time.

Re: why is my 1/4 e.t. slow?
I have to say you're sweating over nothing. You're running what the average G35C is going to run. Trust me. A few will be faster than the mags and most will be slower. No mag has hit 13's with the G35 stock. In fact the only car I know of that is much faster than what mags are getting is the Evolution. And that's simply because they sucked at driving the car. I got consistent 1.8 60's in my stock Evo compared to their 2.1-2.3 60's. Your 60' is what's killing your time. You should at least hit a 2.1 for a decent time. Your trap is about what I would expect from most G35C's. I think most will get between 96-99mph. A key factor is elevation. What elevation are you at? People gotta remember that every track is different. No 2 tracks will garner the same times. Or at least very rarely. If you're above sea level that will kill your traps and ET's. If it's hot and humid same thing.

Basically I wouldn't worry about too much other than working on your launch technique to bring down your 60'. When you nail that you'll be hitting 14.2's.

Cali_Eddie, have you done alot of AT-mode runs? I've heard repeatedly that automatics with the "tiptronic" feature are faster if you just leave it in AT, but like you I have much faster times when I use the "MM" (manumatic). My best AT-mode run was 14.79 (no torque-braking). My MM is always faster than that. I was thinking maybe I reset the ECU one time too many, but a 0.4 second difference like yours is huge. Looks like conventional wisdom on manumatics doesn't apply to the G35.

I was goin by the temp shown on the cluster, and i think my 19's are lighter than the stocks, but a lil bigger tire diameter

I went to the track the other day, Aug. 6...CMI show/race is this weekend

Re: why is my 1/4 e.t. slow?
^---- what he said.

And also, just because it said 80-something on your cluster, it doesn't mean it's right. Alot of us have had problems with inaccurate temp's being shown on the cluster, especially in Sac.

I can guarantee you that the track temperature was at least 15 degrees higher than the ambient (whats shown on the cluster). So you were running on a pretty hot day, but your CAI might have helped a bit.

If you could get a run on a cloudy day, that would be your best bet to lower your ET, short of getting drag slicks

Re: why is my 1/4 e.t. slow?
I ran 14.10@100 in my 100% stock Sedan 6MT without power shifting (which I now regret because of the 3 gear changes, I only had to knock .034 seconds off each shift to hit 13's) launching at 2200RPM's and shifting quickly at redline. When I power shift my Talon, it knocks ~.3secs off my time due to turbolag. I know the G wouldn't do that much better, but it would have definitely run a good 13. Oh well, I'll have to be the fastest stock G35C until I'm modded.
