MREV torque wrench?

What in-lb torque settings are needed to install the MREV? I'm trying to figure out what kind of torque wrench to get beforehand.

The inch-lbs. torque wrench settings, which you will be working with during your MREV install range from 30 inch-lbs. to 100 inch-lbs.

I trust you have a great post MREV install experience. Enjoy!

Thanks. I'm going to preorder the MREV this week. Looks like I'll be getting the $65 craftsman wrench (25-250 in-lb) but that's on backorder too.

exactly how do you know what to set the torgue wrench to when you're working on MREV and even the cats and exhaust part of the car? I found out that the wheels need to be torgued at 80, but how do you know for all the other little nuts and bolts? sorry... <------------- NOOB :P

It should be specified in the instructions for each type of bolt.

In the FSM, every bolt is markedwith a torque spec, as the above poster mentioned.

Jee_35,

With regard to the MREV install . . . Tony provides detailed written instructions with pictures . . . And as such, Tony has numbered the bolts per their tightening sequence and the associated torque setting requirements. The said instructions made the install task quite simple for me.

Absolutely . . . Yes, it is possible to tighten everything down by hand and experience no problems. However, I would advise using a inch-lb. torque wrench. The trick here is to tighten down all of the plenum bolts down with an evenly distributed force across the plenum . . . This is to insure against a vacuum leak and the potential snapping of bolts.

LMAO . . . Some people simply need to be reassured, as with myself. I have often find myself lurking throughout many of the posts seeking the right information. When I am unsure of myself . . . I will ask what may appear to be a silly question to many. However, I'd rather ask a silly than potentially make a big and costly mistake. Understanding that, I will always afford a courtesy answer. These boards have been a life saver for me, at times.

As did I. But I overtightened a bolt on the intake manifold (using regular socket wrench) and it snapped. Tony said he did the same thing and it is fine to run with for now. I will be geting a bolt removal kit and installing a new bolt. Runs great now though
