headlight sensor

I was thinking, I like my car with running headlights but I have to pass "Auto" to turn the headlight on manually and causes it to "blink" which is not good for the bulb, I found a rather simple solution, I put a rounded black tape on the sensor and now I dont have to worry about leaving the lights on in "auto" because it will auto shut off and save the battery from draining and it doesnt blink anymore LOL.

Re: headlight sensor

Why don't you just leave your lights in the "On" position? They will auto turn off when you leave the car anyway.

Re: headlight sensor

I thought auto shutoff is only in "auto" mode? I tested it on "auto" and it did shut off automatically..

Re: headlight sensor

So, when I flash my lights to get someone out of the left lane, I'm wearin' my bulb out???

Re: headlight sensor

Turning on and off the HID low beam headlights in fast intervals causes not only the HID bulb to wear out sooner but also the HID ballast and igniter as well which are pretty expensive to replace.

Re: headlight sensor

unless you have aftermarket HID high/fogs, you're only wearing out regular bulbs when you flash ppl... which aren't that expensive to replace.. and u probably don't use the high's or fogs that often anyway.. so no worries.

Re: headlight sensor

Unfortunately, I think when you flash, this not only activates your highs, but also your HIDs.
